Looking forward to both the Adinol and NeK's results.

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

It seems like the type large industries buy in large quantities, a quick search didn't yield good results for me, but maybe there are similar enough alternatives. I'll update the post if I find things with a similar composition.

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

Regarding lithium soap, IIRC the ingredients for the original lubricant alps used was: Paraffin based mineral oil + Lithium soap + Additives. The lithium soap was added originally to thicken the oil to make into a grease. Now I'm not entirely sure about the difference between paraffin wax and paraff...

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

I finally got my hands on Sasol 5203, some things to point out: 1. Compared to cleaned stock, it's definitely smoother, way smoother. So an improvement is definitely present. 2. One thing I found about the wax is it can solidify inside the slider pole for the springs, and inside the hole for the key...

Re: Alps wax mod - procedure & evaluation!

I wasn't. I just dealt with those comments with the respect they deserved. The best option is to block the ignorant comments and move on, believe me when I say these people are not willing to listen if they jump a bandwagon this easily. Stooping to their level isn't worth it, ironically or not, bec...

Re: Alps wax mod - procedure & evaluation!

The recent video Kuritakey made is interesting and I definitely would want to try wax experiments more, I just wish it wasn't so clearly made out of spite... Aren't we getting a bit off topic? I thought we were trying to figure out how to replicate OG lube or find replacements for it? What's with th...

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

What would happen if you combined a lubricant with the wax (like PTFE) would it make it "slipperier"? My favorite combination so far was using boiled paraffin wax on the sliders, and using Tribosys 3203 on the slider tracks. I'm not sure if my wax was actually paraffin since I just happened to find...

Re: Is there any way to completely fix the sound of clicky Alps?

The upstroke click on clicky alps stems from the bottom tabs of the leaf spring having too much play with the top housing. I used tape to cover ONLY the bottom side of the leaf (as not to silence the click) so that it doesn't move, and I managed to fix it. If it messes up with the sound, try reposi...

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

Some USB microscope pics. - Just boiling in wax is a clearly terribad idea. It looks awfully dirty, worse than untouched. Would you say the bubbles are an essential part of the process then? I've had decent results boiling with wax then applying wet lube to the top housings, with no boiling w/ bubb...

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

The attempts I made on some loose switches I have positively affect smoothness, but it can also bind more if too much wax is applied. Comparing wax boiling to using Finish Line dry lubricant, the wax absolutely destroys the dry lube; it even binds less, which I found quite funny. Applying the thinne...
