Thanks alot, I took your advice and took a reading with a multimeter.

The order seems to be:
brown (Pin 1) 5V
orange (Pin 2) D-
green (Pin 3) D+
blue (Pin 4) GND

I'm assembling an ergodox keyboard with the component kit from Czarek. Everything was rolling along nicely until i was to solder the teensys mini usb cables to the PCB.

The problem is I cannot find out which color cable represents which. In the instruction from massdrop it states:
Black - GND ...

I received 10 IO-expanders, and USB contacts, 1000 SOD-123 diodes, plus a lot of other stuff yesterday. Less than 48 hours from order with mouser to delivery in Sweden! Mouser don't have the 3.5mm connector though, and I think I will be satisfied with having a fixed cable. All the stock ones I have ...

Looking at the current code, it shouldn't be too hard to set up a different layout with some interesting layers or even make a function that can swap layouts.

Here are the current pin assignments (though.. bpiphany may have made some changes not reflected here yet.. I am a bit behind at the moment). There's only 5 unused pins, counting the internal pin on the left. You could put an extra expander on the I2C bus without any modification (which is oh so ...

I have a question... Will there be unused i/o ports on the teensy or the i/o expander for fun modifications? I was thinking about adding some LEDs or possibly a lcd, though I guess i would need another i/o expander for the lcd.

Is there any added benefit to using pcb mounted vs plate mounted in terms of sturdiness etc. I mean, if i need to cut away the two feet anyways, i might as well get plate mounts?

It's a different layout. It will take some getting used to. I don't think it makes sense to stick with the large enter key (if that's what you mean by ISO) because there is not really any point to it and you're already going through some sort of transition period.
