Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

What would happen if you combined a lubricant with the wax (like PTFE) would it make it "slipperier"?

No metal mounting plate yet but I'm planning to keep the metal backplate. Maybe I can build you one once I figured out the process.

I like Futaba switches, so I'd take the case if you don't want it. Do they still click?

I-rocks Brown tactile loose switch review

I contacted I-Rocks and got a sample of their Silent Brown loose switches. These switches feel great, very tactile, more tactile than the cream damped ALPS I tried. They don't have fixing pins, but have a space for an internal diode or LED, so they would work pretty well for PCB mount builds. I will...

Would my Quietkey project be of any interest to you? If I can make the mod repeatable it could open up a whole new world of custom keyboards.

Re: Computer Reset Conundrum

Shame, Computer Reset looked like such a fun place to visit, but after reading this there's no way those a-holes will get my business. Wish the OG owner was still alive.

Re: Dell rubber dome conversion to Mechanical (Quietkey SK-8000)

I decided to do Cherry only for now to save on drill costs. In the future I may just make my own controller board because tracing out the matrix was very stressful to do. Maybe I will use this controller:

Re: Zenith Z-150 Build Help

Once you eliminated those two all you'll have left is the data lines which most likely won't kill the board if they are reversed.

Re: Zenith Z-150 Build Help

Yes, that's it. Measure one side to the ground plane (such as a wire that connects to the mounting plate) and you'll have your GND. The other side of the capacitor will be VCC.

Re: Zenith Z-150 Build Help

Find a power capacitor on the board, you'll likely find VCC and GND there.

Re: Dell rubber dome conversion to Mechanical (Quietkey SK-8000)

If this PCB design works, I will have 5 from JLCPCB. The first prototype I will use these cheap MX Blue knockoffs, so it will be a LOUD key! I do want to build some more with better switches including quiet switches like the new silent T1s. So if anyone has junk SK-8000s, hang on to them so I can mo...

Dell rubber dome conversion to Mechanical (Quietkey SK-8000)

I am working on this idea I had, I got a Dell Quietkey SK-8000 and I am trying to convert it into a mechanical keyboard. I modified the case with a dremel tool and now I am working on a PCB to replace the original membrane circuits: dqk.png sk-800 pcb.PNG The PCB will bolt to the original backplate ...

How tactile are Kailh Polia switches?

I'm doing a PCB mount keyboard project and these switches are on sale. How do these switches compare in tactility to the better MX tactiles like T1? Are they any good or just glorified MX Poop?
