[negative rant] So as predicted, this means you have to buy everything from them with no flexibility whatsoever. This is even before it has begun. They don't offer the switches I wanted, which I already happen to have if they were to sell a kit without switches. Same goes with most of the other par...

I'd like the option to JUST get the PCB... that's all I've wanted since the beginning. I don't have any use for a fully-built kit. I would get a kit with just the PCB and the non-switch electronics. You can use chat or email...they are quite responsive and it says they will sell without switches et...

@litster Bpiphany designed the PCBs, but Jewce has been with the project from the start and is one of the primary organizers and helped write the remapping software. I know bp designed the PCB. He did send me a pair of PCBs for testing and case design. I was just being a jerk, asking the obvious qu...

I'm actually not sure if he's been doing anything but whining... I would start a PCB group buy only just in spite if I had the time to do the effort ;D I have been working. I have not put any code on Codeplex because I don't want to post something that's not actually useable right now. I have every...

I will say this one more time, There will be no separate, pre-buy for PCBs only. This is the sole reason the PCB designs have not been made public yet. You are basing your logic on...absolutely nothing with regards to this buy. There are a LOT of people who would just cop for pcbs now. We wouldn't b...

I don't get the point where people you might know, inside the community, cannot be trusted, but some company run by unknown, can. Doesn't sound like a good community. These groupbuys run fine on the Korean forums. Why can't we? I think the trick is to not have it handled by one person, but multiple...

I am getting really tired of saying there won't be a PCB only buy. That isn't going to happen. Stop asking. We are not going to split initial order. Everyone will get the same price, regardless of whether you want a case or not. After the initial buy the designs will be released under GPL and then ...

Is it just me or are the people wanting to use massdrop people with <50 posts? The come to the community and because they want to buy a product. They the tell us how we are going to do it? For all we know, they could be a massdrop sales rep. We already know they like to advertise to us on here. Nob...

I'm not sure how I feel personally on the whole crowdsourcing thing. Who is going to handle the money? What if we far exceed the amount of money we want to raise? There's factors here we should consider carefully, and the design including the case should be fully complete before making a decision. I...

Hi all, new to the forum, hi to everyone and remarks for such a good job. Seriously, I was looking for a new keyboard and this free project is truly awesome! Ok lolol, i'm just confused with the possibility of losing that key physically...obviously i understand you can map any key but the point was mapping it without losing another. But yeah i understand i can map it because i have ansi keyboards and i map that key to another two, its just a preference....

Hey guys, Will be getting my first build of the firmware tonight, and also am getting the 1.0 of middleware. This means the UI project will be moving forward and I hope to release a beta for you all to play with in...say 1-2 months. Cheers, Hey OrangeJewce! Out of curiosity, will the UI be purely f...

So how's the state on this, regarding prices...:P Best guestimate: $265 before assembly. I base that off of the follwing: ~$200 Aluminum Case (could go as low as $150 I guess?) ~$30 PCBs ~$10 Connectors ~$25 Teensy 2.0 Add cost of switches, caps, and assembly, and I think we're looking at $400 a pi...

All, I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to support macros in the UI. IC, if you're watching, could you comment on if/how macros are going to work in the firmware? You will be able to make a "gaming" layer in the UI or by editing the firmware. Tarfyn, How are you making those diagrams? I totally woul...

Will it have to be programmed on windows then? That I wouldn't like. Actually no, you can compile the firmware yourself on a linux machine, and can then flash the controller manually. However, there is no plan at this time to have a linux compatible UI. That being said, all the layouts that will co...

I wonder if it wouldn't be best to write a small tutorial on how to create your own layouts. I think I have seen gui mentioned a few times. Will there be a gui to create layouts and generate files of your own, containing those layouts? There may already be one, in which case I apologize for not hav...

If IC would like it to be in the preset, than it will be. Otherwise I don't think it would be too difficult to make that small change and save it as a different preset in the UI. What do you think of that idea? I can't commit just yet since I don't know what I will be given; regardless let me know....

bpiphany: Hi, I am more than willing to pay for the soldering job as I don't have any soldering tools or skills. Better still, if you could assemble the whole thing (including the Cherry red switches and keycaps, though these I can do myself, I guess) I am more than willing to pay for the labor, sh...

As I've stated previously. My first release of the UI will have the following Presets: ANSI Dvorak Colemak You will be able to edit all of the presets if you find I did something wrong. The great thing about the way I'm implementing this is you all will be able to trade .hex files and open them up ...

I'd also like to add that there is no difference between the method I'm using and recompiling the firmware manually, because you still won't have the Teensy-OS communication a driver would afford you. The differences will be what flags you set in your C compiler, and the physical hardware you compil...

All, The UI will have some presets built in when I release it, and Dvorak will be one of them. The way that this will work is the following: When you compile the firmware, you get a .hex file which stores the mappings, layers, etc. The UI will modify and save a new .hex for each edit you make, while...
