Re: Topre 3rd Party Domes
Edit: forgot the link. I recommend staying away from Keyclack. I ordered a pack of domes from them last November. The order's status on the web site is still listed as "Your order is confirmed. You’ll receive an email when your order is ready." Looking at r/mk, I am not the only one having that iss...

Today's endgame will be yet another dull item on yesteryear's checklist. When you hit it, don't be surprised when that suddenly changes to not-anymore because now you've got a whole new obsession to quest for! It never ends!!! I thought Model M would be mine...then Model F...then HHKB...then R...

Re: HHKB Pro Hybrid Type S - PCG
The Pro 1 really isn’t much different, the only advantage being the slimmer profile (slightly) and very stiff domes. I have a 2012 pro 2 that has stiff domes as well, so you might as well buy a cheap pro 2 while you still can. £80 brand new is an incredible deal when you consider Chyrosrans number ...

Wrong bloody direction. Yeah, I’m tempted to pull a Wobbly and stock up on Pro 2s while they can still be had for new. Any tips on sourcing more white ones will be well received. I like that PFU is trying. I just don’t like what they’re trying. Gimme OG classics! At first I was just indiffere...

Crooked keycaps on HHKB
I don't know how well you can tell from these pictures but the key-caps on my HHKB classic seem to sit slightly crooked. IMG_6439[1].JPG I have tried to swap them out with other key-caps and they sit exactly the same crooked way. IMG_6441[1].JPG Whatever is going on seems to be a problem with the sl...

Re: Good Contactless Keyboards
Update: I have been able to get my hands on an Apex Pro and a K100. (In fact I am typing this on the K100 since I am still using it on a "test run"). I am reaching the end of my try-out and I believe I have found a winner! And it is (Cue drum beat)......Apex Pro!!! The K100 has way better build qual...

Re: Unicomp New Model M is going to use a controleer with a Raspberry Pi Pico on it?
They might as well, now it's becoming so easy. But then the big question: internal battery or new case design for a bunch of AAs? :o That's a good point. They did not design the case to take a battery. There's some design work that needs to be done here. As long as they don't mess with the "curve" ...

Re: Return to office
The type of microphone is also important. It was a Hyper X headset somebody left on the desk to pick up everybody speaking in the room. It was in an open office. Just desks, no cubes or walls. Though, that particular headset was damn good. I swear it could pick up a mouse breathing! I went and got t...

BKE Domes for Topre
I am planning on getting the BKE ultra light Topre dome replacements to swap out on my Realforce. They sound like they are in the sweet spot between the tactility of the 55g Topre and the lightness of the 45g. But before I do, has anyone tried these or other types of domes you can replace with Topre...

The gray doesn't look quite as (for lack of a better word) corny as the off-white/beige you see with so many retro keyboards. That color is a good middle ground between slick and retro.Gotta' love that IBM badge in the top right-hand corner too!

Re: I Plug In, I Type: Steel Series Apex Pro
I am leaning towards picking up the Apex Pro myself. It makes sense the alphanumeric keys would be the only part that would have hall effect. Not just because it cuts down on cost, but that is also the only section most people might want to adjust. The other keys are not typed as frequently during t...

Re: IBM Model M Lifetime Discrepancy?
I've always heard that measuring lifetime by key-press wasn't 100% accurate. Especially given all of the other things that can break before then. Sometimes it sounds like a marketing gimmick they can slap on the box like "50 million key-presses" or "1.5x faster actuation". When it comes to a keyboar...

Topre Silencing Rings?
What silencing rings for Topre would you recommend? It's for a little project that I have coming up with my Realforce.
I've heard good things about Deskeys but I'm not sure which ones to get. Really I just want something that will come close or possibly exceed the quietness of silent Topre switches.

Re: Good Contactless Keyboards
I could compare all the switches and keyboards you list, but that'd take a very long while and I don't type that fast. If you have anything specific, please ask and I'll try to answer. So, it sounds like you would rate them below Topre, but above Matais/Buckling Springs, etc. ? TL;DR Best all-round...

I tried two such boards at Best Buy they had out for display. One was a Steel Series Apex Pro and the other was a Corsair K100. They felt pretty good and I am interested in other boards like the Wooting Two. I am still holding out for the Keystone. Anyways, I just wanted to get your expert opinions?...

Re: What if Buckling Springs were made into an MX form?
What is "MX form"? Form factor of the switch? MX keycaps? Compatibility with PCBs? ...with plates? All of the above. Remember that silo modules aren’t switches. As I recall, they’re a tactile mechanism that sits on top of an external sensor. Just like buckling spring! But not at all like MX. To cra...

What if Buckling Springs were made into an MX form?
You know, like how Input Club wanted to make the Beam-springs into one with the Silo switches? Or how Alps were made into one with the Clickez? I wonder if it could be possible to replicate something like the Model F or Model M feel in that? 🤔 I think It would be soooooo cool! It might even be more ...

Re: Who still looks forward to the Keystone?
One thing the Keystone has over Wooting, for me, is the tactile option. And it's through an Alps-like leaf at that! Otherwise, I would be all over the Wooting board. The loss of the Silos was devastating. It definitely cut the enthusiasm down by half. One half was the board and a whole other half we...

I am still VERY enthusiastic about this board. I put close in quotes because I mean that relatively...
