From what I have read the springs don't do much. What is your experience? Do you prefer the 35g or did you add the springs?

Re: Looking for a Hot swappable 75% ISO keyboard
If you are in the UK, the GMMK pro is available through Amazon prime for £158 (silver) and £165 (black). Not sure for how much it goes elsewhere though.
Hardly cheap, but I suppose better than paying a hefty shipping with unknown wait time.

Re: Niz plum 35g or 45g?
If anyone is interested in a Niz, the keyboard company has apparently reduced its prices, with around £110ish and £130ish for the white non-backlit wired and bluetooth versions respectively, with free UK shipping. The Niz is calling me, but I think I will wait for a bit longer. Not good to get 1-2 k...

Re: IBM XT Model F question
Has anyone with an F experienced chattering or unreliable connection over USB? I use a soarer's converter I personally wired, so it could be that I did a shoddy job, or it is the power requirements. Last time I had it happen, it ended up being the wiring, and I ended up redoing the whole thing bette...
Re: M-like?
Well, the F122 aficionados kept quiet about that! I’ve never had one (only XT, AT and Kishsaver) so I can’t speak from first hand experience of a Model F that size. Your definition of only buffles me. But I do have to say that the keyfeel of the F is amazing if something horrible has not happened t...
Re: M-like?
The first, and probably the only one version of the F that comes to mind as close visually to the M and its layout is the F AT https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5121/5210815009_5ce8f77878_b.jpg There is of course the virtually identical F122 with the later M122, but as far as the classic M goes, I can't...

Re: Niz plum 35g or 45g?
Update on the HHKB purchase... hhkb_2.jpg hhkb_3.jpg hhkb_1.jpg Arrived this morning and fits what I was looking for. It very small (first 60% I have actually seen in person, much less own). The only keyboards I have typed on roughly this size is an old apple bluetooth keyboard, and my K380, both sl...

Re: Niz plum 35g or 45g?
Sorry Mu, but I will have to add where I ordered mine too :P. Didn't want to initially until I verified that everything is ok, even though the seller seems to have good rating and responses. I should be getting mine tomorrow or Thursday so I will update on this. The listing is at £250 for HHKB Hybri...

Re: Niz plum 35g or 45g?
The only potential problem I would see for the HHKB would be the weird default arrow arrangement. What do you think of the weird key placements? (Aside from control, which I actually like there) I thought this when I first got mine. Before I even tried to use the default layout I had order a HASU c...

Re: Kailh BOX Jade vs IBM Model M, which one is the loudest??
Are switch manufacturers having a competition at this point?CollapsedKeycap wrote: ↑29 Jan 2022, 17:16You should also compare the model M with Kailh's newer Arctic Fox switches.
They are clickbar switches with a polycarbonate housing.
It seems they are even louder than the jade switches.

Also for more accurate comparison you can try measuring from a set distance, preferably with the microphone not touching the desk

Re: Best Clicky Switches You've Tried
I have owned and tried capacitive buckling springs on a used Model-F XT, membrane buckling springs on a Unicomp Model M (the spacesaver version) and SMK 2nd gen blue (Montereys). I have also tried the razer green switch at some point through a friend. Purely feeling-wise I would rank them as they ar...

Re: Niz plum 35g or 45g?
Thanks for the info. I am tempted to "abuse" the amazon return policy too, so I can try them. Your post helped at least imagining what it is probably like to type on each. Unfortunately keyboardcompany has a good return policy but I would need to pay postage, so I can't actually compare the 35 and 4...

Re: Niz plum 35g or 45g?
Do you have some experience with "regular" (actual) Topre to go by? I don't have any experience with Topre or any other electro-capacitive. As for your typical cheap membrane keyboards I don't really like the feeling, especially the need to bottom out as I used to type quite heavily which was tirin...

Niz plum 35g or 45g?
I am considering getting a Niz as a portable bluetooth keyboard which I can also use as a daily driver. Would you recommend getting the 35g version or the 45g? From what I have been able to find through reviews and reddit, the 35 gram version is supposed to be like "typing on clouds", but doesn't ha...

Re: Damped White Alps
Interesting, I was unaware of a switch opener. I used a flat-head screwdriver and a tool from ifixit kit, but was a bit tedious although easy enough since there is no desoldering involved. This was my first ALPS keyboard and I am posting because I was initially disappointed, but now like it. Since I...

Re: Damped White Alps
I am currently using an AEK2 which I found pretty cheap with dampened cream alps. It was dirty but surprisingly inside the switches it was clean. Personally, I didn't like the feeling as it felt too rounded and somewhat sticky (maybe the rounded tactility was responsible). I would suggest to give it...
