I'm pretty sure it's just for the PCBs... BYOeverythingelse. To do cases would add 6-8 more months or more to the project... I'm sure there will be an aluminum case GB at some point.

Instead of finding true reds, just make Ghetto Reds with a couple spare blacks and the springs from spare Browns/Blues... with the caps on you'll never know the difference (TRUST ME, I've got both and they're identical)

Aaaand I now see you have them listed AS Ghetto Reds on your layout. My bad.

Also consider, a business exists to make money. They can quote you a PCB cut from a slightly over-sized piece of medium as though they're doing it that way and make a bit more profit by arranging them in the most economical manner possible when in actual production.

They are pricing it that way because what isn't included in the cut-out portion of the PCB is considered a loss for them. They can't use the waste trimmings for anything, so you get to pay for them.

This feels so close I'd hate to add another 6 months if cases had to be included. I'd rather have kit without case and have a group buy for cases after. Or the layered plate option with the kit. I agree, just a full parts list and the pcb would get alot of people started :) I'm with you. Say, when ...

3DConnexion products

Has anyone used any of the 3DConnexion products? I have a SpaceBall4000 on the way from ebay (nice and cheap) and wondered if any of my fellow DTers had used any of their stuff. The SpaceBall line looks pretty promising as a trackball...

ALPS (Fukka) wobble?

I have a SIIG with clicky white simplified ALPS and I just don't type on it very much. The other day I was trying to figure out what it was I dislike so much about it and I think it's that the keys are just so wobbly. It really feels bad. Is this a construction quality issue or are all the simplifie...

I'll be doing a wooden layer-case for mine and I'm not doing a plate. If you take a look at the cad for the PCB, you'll see that the switches are intended to be PCB mounted (the medium-sized holes either side of the switch), so a plate is really not necessary. I'm getting pretty excited about this c...

Dvorak Dongle?

I'm wondering if it would be possible to program a teensy or similar to do this: http://keyghost.com/QIDO/ Surely it can be done for less than $90+$30 shipping from NZ. I wouldn't need it to be switchable, but just use the Dvorak Simplified... it would allow me to take any mech board around to the v...

What would be handy is a set of files that are usable on a 3d-printer. I have access to one where all I would have to pay for is the material to run through it. I think my printer guy uses SketchUp a lot.

I love mine, and use it to travel, but I troubleshoot for people in the office and I look like I don't know wtf I'm doing when I have to hunt and peck on their QWERTY layout. Has there been any further estimation on the costs for this project? It seems REALLY promising and, if it's not too late (and depending on costs, of course, I'd be interested in getting in on the group-buy. Even if it's just for 4 of the PCB (I'm good with woodworking tools and I know how to solder)...
