There are no profits to be had when one runs this forum. Tell that to webwit who made massive profits when selling this place to the highest bidder. Case in point. There *was* money to be made when selling this place. Nobody will make that mistake again. The current owner discovered that *running* ...

Clearly you're the man to run this forum though, fully funded by your plebs of course with you as the sole owner and any profits going in to your pockets alone! Everything I've ever experienced with gmail is if you don't have SPF and DKIM you're going nowhere. Since beginning this month, I see on several domains, that having just an SPF does not suffice any longer. The only thing that works seems to be SPF + DKIM or SPF + DMARC (at a minimum). It's not nec...

Most likely cause are springs that need to be reseated. Just pull off the caps (of the keys which you have issues with), and the springs, and then reattach them. Pay attention to the rotation of the spring on the knob. It's not entirely irrelevant at which angle the spring starts around the base of ...

And aviator cables would alleviate that by moving the violent yanks and the stresses they induce from the PCB to the middle of the cable. Yes, they would absorb some of the short-term shocks, but the average perpendicular force exerted on the socket will not change, which still is likely to cause m...

That is true, but a similar durability can be achieved with aviator cables on USB-C, The problem is not the cable, that is easily replaced. The problem is the demolition done to the PCB mounted USB socket on the PCB. To be exact, violent janks at the cable perpendicular to the socket, that's what w...

the good thing is the inner assembly is separate in Round 2, so you can design a case and put in the inner assembly in the future. I must have missed the memo earlier; yes, this is the best news "ever". I don't like the Round 2 cases: way too bulky for my taste. That I can use them without a case m...

I'd love to have a (blank or actually labelled) keycap for the "6" in the numeric top row that actually has a bump on it. Any idea how to accomplish this? Since it is the top row, the keycap needs to be taller than a typical "F" or "J" of course.

How much interest is there in smaller layouts over the standard 104/84 style? Are folks who want HHKB those who will only want the smaller layouts? For me, in order of decreasing preference: a. Exact layout like new Model F77, ANSI with split right shift. b. Exact layout like new Model F77, ANSI. c...

That layout has everything except the split numpad0. Who should we sue now? Indeed, I didn't know, but as it turns out, the USB-HID standard ( https://www.usb.org/sites/default/files/documents/hut1_12v2.pdf ) actually defines keycodes for 00 and 000: - 176 = 0xb0 for Keypad 00 - 177 = 0xb...

Re: Hasu USB-USB Converter
I have one of those converters.
I asked Hasu about it; he said he didn't know.
Checking the QMK source, I see references to the usb-usb converter, so maybe it will work. I haven't tried it yet, though.

Re: Requesting help: New Model F w/ dead keys
Judging from the PCB layout, it seems that all keys that register zero all the time are connected to either ribbon connector pin 9 or 10 at the top (the two marked with the black marker, counting from the left). So most likely, the signal on those two pins is not reaching the processor; or the two p...

Do any EE's have recommendations ... In order to be able to help out solving these kinds of problems, we'd need some more info from Ellipse; what would help are: - A schematic which includes every labeled keypad (capacitive sense part). - A PDF version of the PCB traces with different colours per l...

An example is that I would have two different modifiers on the same key, depending on layer, but when I press and hold it, I don't want it to change when I change layer - I want the modifier to stay exactly as I did when I pressed and held it. If the toggle would activate the layer only (and immedi...

Re: TMK keyboard firmware collection
Anyone know the TMK/QMK layer logic well enough to know if I can get the lazy Fn behaviour I desire? Having to release Fn just to "make it stick" doesn't feel right. I'd say, the current behaviour is a bug, and should be fixed in the generic case to switch layers as soon as the Fn key is pressed. I...

And the keyboard you now use TMK on cannot run QMK instead? As far as I understood it, the keyboards supported by QMK should be close to a superset of the ones being supported by TMK?

In the good PCB, is there continuity between these two solder joints? In the good PCB they are not connected. It would not have made sense if they would have been connected.
