Re: what is the best keyboard
Shift + Shift = Caps Lock. A destructive operation, which requires two simultaneous keys… https://www.imfdb.org/images/thumb/9/96/WG_04.jpg/600px-WG_04.jpg I'm a bit ashamed to admit this, but you just blew my mind I know, it's still my favourite macro. Soarer told me that one, it's sublime. I just...

Re: Keyboard + Footswitch + Chording as an Accessability Option.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_equivalence Here, I got this for you. You can also import a LHT vehicle in the US, which I think getting one of those and driving on the wrong side of the road would have been a closer (but still inaccurate) comparison. Finally, one handed people have no option bu...

Re: Keyboard + Footswitch + Chording as an Accessability Option.
They are seeing one and most just seem to give basic advice. Both my cousins have had issues as well so I gave them some trackballs to try out, along with some suggestions that I thought were pretty sound (as in they didn't seem like snake oil.) I think any excess phone use doesn't help either thoug...

I wanted to mention this, which is overpriced gaming crap. Also why does MSI even need a Kickstarter anyway?
I guess at least the lights make it easier to find in the dark.

Re: Keyboard + Footswitch + Chording as an Accessability Option.
How much do these two people still want to type, and have they themselves expressed interest in alternative keyboard layouts? I’m just wondering the extent to which this is your project and they are to be evangelised. ;) I tried Colemak: that small step of a layout, going on ten years ago, and agai...

Re: Keyboard + Footswitch + Chording as an Accessability Option.
Well a two pedal system wouldn't need all that movement. Though I think the movement might be good to help prevent (or at least ward off) things like possible clotting.
Lots of neat things you just mentioned though! That ASHTNIOP thing is neat too.

Re: Keyboard + Footswitch + Chording as an Accessability Option.
Yes, that's exactly what I mean, and I'm not saying it would be easy at all. Even The Twiddler https://twiddler.tekgear.com/ takes some getting used to and has a learning curve. It's more of a thing for the disabled where it is physically hard/painful to move their hands. This would ideally minimize...

Re: Heavy keyboards?
What is the application where it needs to be "heavy"? Not exactly a mod but you could use brackets to screw/strap it to the desk. Alternatively there are kiosk keyboards you could just mount (though the buttons usually are horrible due to being all-weather, but at least they're really easy to clean....

Keyboard + Footswitch + Chording as an Accessability Option.
So my friend and his wife are both having hand issues and I was thinking of ways to make things easier on them. My idea is a foot switch accessory that would plug into the keyboard directly with three pedals on it. turning it into a chorded keyboard. Pushing down 1 would shift the home row up one so...

Re: what is the best keyboard
Please just tell me already please i Best is subjective and depends on the tasks it needs to perform. I really like my Moonlander, but any boards focused on ergonomics are good. Anyone working with numbers a lot is going to want a dedicated keypad, but that can be external. Also I really like the Q...

Re: The foot switch thread
Not a horrible idea really, but it probably only works well bare footed or with wingtips.
Actually never mind, I just imagined cleaning that.
Also I can't realistically see needing more than 3 petals unless you're doing something with gaming or music synthesis.

Re: The foot switch thread
I was thinking more of something that maybe I could use the QMK firmware with, potentially. Although I'm pretty sure nothing like that exists right now. I guess if people really wanted there could be LEDs under the pedals too. I'm way too ADHD to carry this idea forward though and the 'tism doesn't ...

The foot switch thread
So, my PCSensor (that's the brand name) three petal (key) foot switch has died (mostly, I think it's a USB connection issue.) I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to replace it with. I find having one is useful, especially if programed to function as modifier keys. No more Emacs pin...

Re: Numpad layouts
It's working just fine on my Moonlander, but it uses layers. I will say that this is the only way that it works though. I have a Mistel Freeboard too, but I stopped using it. :P Also, if those in charge didn't want us "necroposting" they would lock the thread after a reasonable amount of time. I don...

Re: Numpad layouts
The navigation keys exist as they do because of games. Here's the layout if anyone wants to check it out: https://configure.zsa.io/moonlander/layouts/Y5MWP (the name comes from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0ACvNSis7k which I saw flipping channels and thought it was funny, because it reminded me ...

Re: Numpad layouts
That's why 5 is where it's at, as it's over the J key. Though I think I'm going to try Workman so I swapped out the keys for the bumpless ones.
Also I can't really make it larger since it's already printed.

Re: Numpad layouts
Sorry to necro this, but I'm working on mine and was just wondering about your thoughts on the matter (if any of y'all are still around.) I'm running on a Moonlander and decided to dedicate a layer to the function keys (all 24 of them) and the number pad. It's a bit shifted though, mostly to match u...
