Then someone should be making them and selling them on eBay.

Get iOne behind it, selling them at £60 delivered. As they can with their non backlit MX keyboard.

Then wireless and extra switches can be had. Even wireless between the two halves?

A shiny case like they make for Corsair. Back lighting ...

red-level resistance till 2mm activation, with a smooth exponential increase in resistance till an asymptote near 7mm or so. Is there place to get smallish quantities of thicker/softer O-Rings than WASD carries? If so, what might I look for? Surely progressive springs is what we want. Not rubber ...

they later started separate group buys for PCBs on their own Now you tell me! :) I probably would have bought a couple. Maybe my not realising that, was fate intervening. Or maybe I simply missed out.

To have boards made in the UK might be costly compared to China. Last time I did it, I had 30 ...

http://blog.fsck.com/2012/12/building-a-keyboard-part-2.html Thanks for the links :) I've noted them.

I, wrongly then, got the impression that only extra boards were available for $44, with a kits, rather than boards on their own, and ...

It's what it is.

I basically wanted a couple of boards and switches.

As the people doing it are in the USA, we have to pay a lot of tax on their profit. If the parts were shipped from China to the EU then we'd just pay tax on the parts.

I can't guess how much 200 pairs of boards, (or 400 boards ...

Thanks for the suggestion, it makes economical sense.

I think the Corsair is an iOne board isn't it? Fully made in Taiwan? Then shipped direct to, eg, Europe top level distribution. Maybe the Ergodox should have been made in a similar way?

I've not registered yet to see the pricing but from what people have posted, and given that the nice looking metal cased MX switched Corsair full sized keyboard retails for about £80, this Ergo seems expensive at what would probably end up at about £280 or more once keycaps with text on are added ...

If they're being mass produced then they'd use a CNC mill and program it, make a jig to hold the top plate and the counter sinking might take a minute for all eight holes.

Or...

are the eight holes drilled through all the plates? There are drill bits with a built in counter sink.

As it is I think ...

My concern also was that the oil would run out of the switch. However grease tends to wipe away from the rubbing faces and stay away whereas oil may creep back onto the bearing faces. Grease may 'squelch' at the ends of the switch travel and it's viscosity may be detectable by finger tips though the ...

30gram Topre, silenced, UK 105 key ISO, white or light keys?

Last week I bought a Topre RealForce 88UB all 45g.

It's as new.

It's going up for sale soon.

I can't stand the big detent hump. Nor the hard hit at the bottom. Nor the amount the keys seem to have to travel. compared to the MX-Reds. I have to have a number pad. And black writing on black switches ...

Is there an advantage to a plastic mounting plate with this design?

I got the impression that the 2mm or so steel plate was there to protect the PCB from cracking under the onslaught fustigation from overwrought gamers. If so it might have saved one of my Cherry G80-1000 from such a fate.

Also ...

To tidy it, couldn't those three resistors go under the board (as surface mount?) so as to delete those cut out areas? If not surface mount, then just crop the leads level with the top side of the PCB.

Same for the links either side of the other socket.

And the chip wired direct, again saving a ...

The keyboard will support layers, so it's possible to have a conventional number pad embedded however you like I see, well that might be workable for me, but I'd have to give it a go. the integrated number pad on the ErgoDOX. Do you mean the number row above the qwerty row? That won't do it, hence the number pad, especially with it's /*-+=.

Will this keyboard work via passing through a Cherry number pad? Sorry if this is already answered earlier.

Or would both separately plug into USB? Or the number pad into the PS2? I use the built in number pad daily. I'll need one.

Is it possible to make a wireless version of this ErgoDox?

Limmy, why not use (one of) the Krytox for the springs? Krytox is too thin?

I found the Victorinox oil on-line for about £3.something. Was there a specific Silicone oil you used? I expect there are many varieties with that title.

RO-59tm RC About 15-20 minutes About 200°C

I'd put my name down a some Krytox GPL103

Seen a 0.5kg container for about $355, which is about £240.

Split into 50 x 10ml containers, that's about £6 including a small syringe + post from whoever splits the 0.5kg into the 10ml syringes.

I wonder if the more open spring on the right gets proportionally harder per length of compression than those on the right with more coils per centimetre? Or if they're the same rate?

they just dampen different frequencies different amounts. No, it's related to compression distance. Either lower or higher frequency, if the movement is small enough for the particular spring, the more compliant part of the spring deals with it.

That would work well with these Cherry keys. Light ...
