Update on the MTRON TK-1 that showed up on Auctions a few days ago: it just sold for 100,000 yen, or: $890 833 euros 708 pounds Pretty crazy. That'd be me. I'd wanted one for...kind of a while. https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=52699.0 It also happens to be the keyboard we based the Keyboardio M...

Type C connectors are increasingly easy to get, much less expensive than they were a year ago and much more robust than MicroUSB. They're also easy to get in a 'mid-mount' form factor that will make your board thinner. And if you're doing USB 2.0 over Type C, the additional component cost for suppor...

Yup. Hasu and Haata both It's nice living in the future where this stuff isn't impossible anymorelowpoly wrote: ↑Thank you.
IIRC, Hasu's code has something for unlimited NKRO as well. I just didn't activate it.

Thanks for the comments. 6KRO: that's the USB limitation. Beyond that you have to do tricky wizardry. https://github.com/keyboardio/HID is my implementation of single-keyboard true NKRO for Windows, Linux, MacOS and iOS. @gogusrl - We' may offer a kit later on, but first we wanted to actually ship fully working keyboards to folks. (Though the fully working keyboards do use Matias ALPS switches :) @Muirium - We're planning to use a shipper that has a European warehouse. With luck, the shipping rates we've got in ther...

The Keyboardio Model 01 is now on Kickstarter
It's taken...a lot longer than we ever imagined, but we're thrilled to announce that the Model 01 is now available for preorder.

Keyboardio needs your help
Hey folks, I've previously posted some of my 3D printed and laser-cut prototype keyboards ( http://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/my-shiny-new-keyboard-io-model-00-keyboards-t7134.html ) & have mentioned that we're hard at work designing a mechanical ergonomic keyboard that we intend to ship commercial...

Job posting: Keyboard.IO Prototyping Intern/Consultant in SF
Hi guys. Keyboard.IO was recently accepted into Highway1, a hardware incubator. We're hard at work building you awesome hackable ergonomic mechanical keyboards. And we need help. We're looking for an intern (or possibly a consultant) who's good at prototyping. Ideally, we're looking for someone who'...

There's a study out of a Berkeley ergonomics lab that suggests that anything 17mm or bigger doesn't increase typing pain or typo rate for users with large hands and also improves things for users with smaller hands.

Re: My shiny new Keyboard.IO Model 00 keyboards
I didn't drop it entirely, just cut it down to a a few degrees. The full tk1 splay is just too wide to be comfortable.philpirj wrote:Looks good!

Re: My shiny new Keyboard.IO Model 00 keyboards
Yes, more comfortable. Yes, the current layout is a variant of the blue shift layout. And yeah, as I've said before, the 1.0 keyboard will almost certainly be a single unit. There's just too much design risk in a split design for my first physical product.

My shiny new Keyboard.IO Model 00 keyboards
The Model 00 is very similar to the Mark 13 I mentioned over at http://blog.fsck.com/2013/12/better-and-better-keyboards.html , though it (finally) uses a PCB I designed and had Seeed Studio make me 10 copies of (for $200, including FedEx Next Day shipping from China!) and has a wood shell, rather t...

What I did today: What about the lonely key which would be under the palm? When I'm not typing I like to "rest" my palm... Wouldn't that key trigger? Nope. Even resting your palm, the inner edge of your hand is raised just a bit. I also rest my palms. And I never accidentally trigger the palm key. ...

I've been really happy with the Arduino Micro: http://arduino.cc/en/Main/arduinoBoardMicro (Not the Pro Micro)
The Micro has a '32U4 and is quite easy to work with. (https://github.com/obra/KeyboardioFirmware is the firmware I've been building for it using the arduino toolset)

Impressed! Great presentation, but great ideas too. Thanks! I like those brown caps :P Me too! I'm a little sad I under-ordered on the 1.5x modifiers and the 2x blanks, but I'm making do. Great stuff, I really like how you got closer to your ideal by doing all those iterations, weighing what works ...

Yep. When I read the legends, I ultimately feel at home. Upcomming (ie in 2015 or so) Round 5 is supposed to have all the legends including front printing. I did not count through, but did you upload photos of all the 88 key caps? I'm pretty damn sure I did. I stripped the keyboard and dropped each...

Tell him I bid more than you do! Come on, you already have one. Once I got his Space Cadet I will let Mrinterface scan and 3d-print it for you, so your Space Cadet is no longer naked! :evilgeek: The old case is pretty clearly vacuum-formed. I also have an associated mouse with 3 capacitive buttons ...
