You don't have to be a programmer to use and customize Easy AVR, but it certainly helps. Creating your own keyboard from scratch is a complicated undertaking to begin with. A bit of know-how doesn't hurt. For the keyboard shown, a Teensy may work fine depending on your backlighting plans. A Teensy++...

Reddit makes sense for its original purpose, which is ultra-relevant comments on the hottest links of today. I don't think it was ever designed for continuous discussions the way forums are.

I have to register to thank you for this metalliqaz. I found a google cache of your page on geekhack but unfortunately it was dated around March and can't find the latest one. I use your firmware to program my JD40 and it works perfectly on windows but not on Mac. My JD40 on mac is not registering ...

No :( However there is a similar project by SamwiseKoi (IIRC) on Geekhack called the GH36. That might suit your needs.

Rehosting some content

Since I don't have a github repo, I've migrated my release page to the DT wiki for the Easy firmware.

Looks like Google has already noticed.

I don't believe the above is true. They have a hosting provider and they have to pay for hardware, power, and bandwidth. None of which are negligible.

I've read the Cherry MX specs more times than I can count as I've designed my project boards. Trust me, for a custom like that you don't need to worry about it so much. Doing things by hand you're going to inject inaccuracy an order of magnitude larger than that. Also, custom plates these days are s...

Re: Where to get aluminum laser cut?

That's too much. It's definitely expensive, though. Small scale jobs are killer.

If you're doing alu, look for water jet cutting. Any laser that can do alu is going to be industrial sized, and probably more expensive.

Cherry switches are spaced 0.75" square. Definitely find the MX specs at Cherry's website. Also there is a resources thread at GH with all kinds of info for builders. If only that was available when I made mine
