Re: Bringing the IBM PC XT into the 21st Century
define awhile. If it's like an hour - controller warms up and setpoints drift. Use pandrew's firmware which supposedly auto-recalibrates to avoid that. Or use CS and simply forget about the issue forever (but no qmk, EVER) That's probably about right. It's an hour or a couple hours after plug in. I...

Re: Need some help with getting my IBM beam spring display writer to work
Lol, solved the issue. I screwed the backplate on too tight and it was causing a column to be pressed. Loosened the bolts and now the keys work fine and don't show as pressed. The auto-calibrate to over 21000 still scares the crap out of me. I'm scared to auto-calibrate on the utility now. EDIT: oka...

Re: Need some help with getting my IBM beam spring display writer to work
Okay, did find a voltage threshold that works, but for some reason an entire column is registering as PRESSED and the column is not a dead column. I actually need to use the keys in the column. So I'm wondering if there is damage to the PCB or controller in that column.

Re: Bringing the IBM PC XT into the 21st Century
I'm going to bump this thread in an attempt to find an answer for an XTant issue. When I took over a small run for these, I acquired a few XTs so I could make a few of these projects. Unfortunately, only one of my XTants works properly at the moment. All of the other ones have the same issue. I plug...

Need some help with getting my IBM beam spring display writer to work
Hello again. Long time no post. Figured this would be the right place in the forum. So my beam spring display writer has gone bonkers. It has been sitting for awhile. I plugged it in and got no response when I tried to type. When I fire up xwhatsit's capsense utility, the voltage threshold was 21975...

Rats, my heart is broken. Seems like the Japanese layout is also out of production. Probably wasn't a hot seller.

Realforce 104UG "Hi-Pro" out of production?
I had my eye on one if these for the longest time but never would justify spending almost $300 on one. Still would like one if I came across a spare $300 through a sale or such. Have they gone out of production? Seems like it, can't find one anywhere.

Eating oreos without milk should be a criminal offence anyway. Tastiness increases by +12000%! Anyway, *Family Guy, Friends, How I Met your Mother, and Big Bang Theory all suck ass and aren't funny in the slightest. *Coffee is horrible and tastes like concentrated mud. *The only thing that makes te...

I actually agree with all these.PlacaFromHell wrote: ↑23 Jun 2019, 08:45Why not start a thread of unpopular opinions? I begin:
• Oreo cookies' filling taste dreadful.
• Dogs aren't that great.
• I don't like Johnny Depp.

-Dogs are fun but too high maintenance.

Re: So what's new?
What happened in the three months you were away? People are still using keyboards built 30 years ago :-þ I haven't been paying attention for longer than that. But yea, I'm still using 30 year old keyboards. But I have settled in a bit with Topre. The lower force is friendlier on my fingers than IBMs.

Re: So what's new?
There was the Silo switches, Hall Effect and Beamspring MX-mount switch. BOX switches came and went. People got crazy about a switch combo named "Holy Pandas", it got extremely expensive but now there are multiple versions of them. TGR is becoming the new OTD. There was an MX Alps slider called the...

I changed my user name on another forum because a crazy poster kept harassing me and make false accusations. I just wanted to discuss the topics of the forum. Worth changing one's online identity if you just want to talk about the topic at hand without being hassled.

Haven't been around in awhile. Got tired of the other forum(s) I was visiting (non-keyboard forum, fyi). What's new around here and in the keyboard world?
Also see my sales thread, I got some stuff I want to off load.
