My Keyboard uses plastic inserts. Like in this Image: http://www.preater.com/modelm/images/model-m-innards-large.jpg .
Seems I fixed it, by yet again reseating the spring - better now but still not perfect…
In terms of maintenance I would prefer modules like more modern key switches have them ...

Seems I did it again, I broke one of my Model M springs - don't even know how I did it!

They are bent [and twisted] - actually the one of backspace is so badly damaged that it's a bit shorter than the springs normally are (most likely the reason why it has to bottomed out)
Most of the times I'm wondering how the backspace one is even working - I don't even dare to remove the key cap ...
