Why is that a bad thing? It's not painful like with Cherry switches.
Good point. That's why I gave up on Alps.

Me too. I like how the HHKB S is $145 more than the regular version but the silenced Realforce is $10-$30 more.

Yeah, I'm with you. I showed up again because it's time for a new and better keyboard. Funny thing is I think I'll end up with a Cherry MX black and a Topre 'board, both tenkeyless, both very similar to keyboards I had and sold on GH or ebay. I hope I learn my lesson this time, since with my next ...

The idea is to dampen the upstroke. That's where most of the noise comes from on Topre: hold a key, then release it – there's a clear sound when the key comes to a stop. Bottoming out sound is unaffected, but the upstroke sound is louder and sharper and that is what they cut out. (Personally I ...

How is the silenced Topre switch? Is there any difference in the feel of it? Sorry if this has been covered here already. I see how expensive they are, so I wondered if they had the same feel of if they were just quieter. Also, I bottom out on every keystroke so I think that would negate the sound ...

Where are all these ALPS keyboards ? Not in the market place, there's a majority of Cherry stuff.
Is there an echo in here? A few years ago there were lots of Alps 'boards, now there are like 7.

True, it does help but the trap is you can't write again until you buy that new 'board, the one that'll solve all the problems we put in the way of our creativity.

I got it either from ebay or GH. The seller told me it came from a huge selloff at NASA after a refit. It's been a while. I gave the keyboard away for about 2 years and the guy emailed me out of the blue and asked me if I wanted it back because he bought a new PC and wanted to use the included ...

Wow, that's good to hear. I like this one because the 'board has a history (see my sig). I think since I write scifi, it's good to have have kit that was used at NASA, even though NASA really dropped the ball.

Calling webwit!

I'm back in the keyboard scene and went to GH. they had almost everything I wanted, except no webwit, so here I am!

I know you think I'm less than cool or whatever, but what can I say, I missed you, buddy! Anyone who bans ripster is cool in my book!

Anyway, just wanted to say hello, and that I am ...
