Beam spring dimensions?

Hi, I have some questions about beam spring switch dimensions: 1. how tall are they with a normal row 3 cap on (asdf)? from base (where they touch the pcb) to the tip of the cap when not being pressed. 2. how far do they press in? What is the travel distance? 3. at what depth do they become actuated...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Hi, I was wondering if the F will be available with physical function keys, perhaps in the Zinc casing variant? My preferred option would be function keys above the numbers row, in groups of 4, on a keyboard that's "as wide as" a TKL (remembering the wide "margins" on the sides). In case that's neve...

Remapping Japanese extra keys under Linux with xkb?

Hi *, I just received a Japanese Filco Majestouch 2 TKL with Cherry Blues, hooked it up, and it's just great. How can I remap the extra keys this provides? There is an extra key to the left of the Backspace key, one to the left of the right Shift key, one to the left of Space and two to the right. D...

Old Cherry boards are common in Europe as Cherry is based in Germany. If you want just a few keys from SP, I can forward them to you from the US so that you don't have to deal with customs, but shipping might be prohibitive. I'd think you can find a decent Cherry G80 or G81 with the keys you want o...

Check this picture in the Wiki . It shows bottom row keys of Cherry and OEM profiles. SP DCS which is more slanted has a front edge almost as high as the front edge of the OEM key. Thanks, that image explained it well. So I guess I want either the Cherry or SP DCS keys. Is there a good place to get...

Where would I go to find keys that are a bit less high? Either: Get keys that are in "Cherry profile". (named so because those are what Cherry uses for their own keyboards) or blank keys in Signature Plastics DCS profile . Both are shorter than the "OEM profile" that Corsair is using. DCS is more s...

... this keyboard's high ctrl keys have me holding my wrists in a somewhat non-ergonomic position and it's already starting to create a little stiffness. Do you mean "feels comfortable" by "ergonomic"? The "official" ergonomic position is to keep your palms free floating well above the keyboard wit...

What are you wanting exactly? The one I linked is pretty standard for a keyboard key, even most rubber domes have it. Are you referring to the weird profile that some cheap OEM boards have like this? https://2.bp.blogspot.com/--uETADVyb8A/VYNvbl_a0tI/AAAAAAAAAG4/wYfV3pFsb78/s1600/_DSC5761%2B-%2BCop...

Well Corsair has a non-standard bottom row so most aftermarket keys aren't compatible with Corsair. If you are wanting backlit keys, you just missed the buy on Massdrop for Tai Hao's set which is compatible but I don't know of any other sets that fit unless you order from China (I could help you wi...

Where to get rounded/tapered control keys? Help please!

Hi, I have a Corsair K63 and the control keys are just a bit too high, and my hands keep on pressing down on them when in home position, which messes up my typing. I thought it would be great to find some custom keys. Where would I go to find keys that are a bit less high? I think I've seen some peo...

Cherry Brown or Blue TKL, wireless?

Hi guys, I have just gotten into mechanical keyboards. I really like my Corsair K63 with its Cherry Red switches, but I thought I would try something with tactile feedback. I think I can use that for my text editor, and I want to have the experience. I'm looking for a wireless keyboard, since a cabl...

The 5576 uses the exact same buckling spring, key, and shaft design as the "usual" Model M, right? The 5576-003 uses Brother buckling springs . They're different and I don't think they're cross-compatible with the buckling springs used in the Model M. Thanks, good to know. Which 5576 models use Mod...

The keys are all different profiles. Actually in the group buy thread they say Code and Shift are 2.25u each, but they look to be 5.5u together, what gives? They are 2.75u each, right? One of the greatest beauties of the IBM M/F line is that all keys are the same profile and they can be moved aroun...

If you are also into Model Fs i would recommend try to get an MF-SSK or MF-M once they are shipped out. in the GB thread for the MF theres an picture regarding the split spacebar. Did you know IBM buckling spring typewriters? They have split spacebars. This. The "Code" key has its active barrel in the proper place, but you will need to add a secondary dummy barrel for the stabilizer. The space bar is a separate problem with no good solution. But that is a probably difficult ...

Shorter space bar for Model M?

Hi guys, I would like to modify an Unicomp Model M to add a new key immediately to the right of the left Alt key, taking that space away from the space bar. Modify Model M for thumb keys?

Hi guys,
is it possible to modify a standard Model M keyboard to use a shorter space bar, and put the Alt keys closer to the middle? The new Alt keys would be now under X/C and M/, in the attached image.

I would appreciate any ideas! Thanks!
