"black label" F XT?

I'm about to assemble an Model F XT which I bought as a parts donor. What I saw is that the label is different from any other F I saw on the internet. It has a black label with only the IBM logo. Was there any "black label" Fs out there like on some later Model Ms? The label looks quite professional ...

[EU-DE] Model F flappers

I bought a second Model F XT for parts. Now my first keyboard is in service I could try to get the second one complete. Therefore I search a few flappers (I managed to break some during reassembly ).

I'm from Germany and would prefer to get it from within Europe.

Re: re-assembling Model F

After postponing this project I gave this keyboard another shot today. Suprisingly the second try went without problems and in short time. Also after placing the keycaps the key test shows that all keys register including the spacebar. :P

Now this F is nice and shiny again. Admittedly I have to ...

Re: re-assembling Model F

Just another question before I start another try in assembling an F-XT. The flipper of the spacebar goes on top of the metal bar, correct? Like on this photo?

Re: re-assembling Model F

I managed to assemble the keyboard. Unfortunately I "killed" two flippers. To bad. I organized a spare F-XT so I could snatch two flippers. I also build an XT-to-USB converter using this firmware https://www.tmk-kbd.com/tmk_keyboard/editor/unimap/?ibmpc_usb_32u4_xt and an Pro Micro clone. It works ...

re-assembling Model F

Recently I was lucky and got hold of an Model F XT keyboard. I ordered a replacement foam on eBay from Canada. Upon re-assembling I`m struggling much more than expected. Over the years I renovated, bolt- and screw modded different Model Ms but the F is taking me to the limits. Even if I use as much ...

Re: Apple M0110 keyboard dead controller

Tbh, I dont think this is a cap related issue.

I have two (identical) M0110 PCBs/Keyboards. One with an Intel 8021 keyboard controller which works partially, due to a bunch of bad switches. Another PCB with an Phillips MAB8021P keyboard controller. It does not work at all. I cross-switched the ...

Apple M0110 keyboard dead controller

I got myself two Apple M0110 keyboards. One in good cosmetical order and complete and another PCB with a lot of non working switches. Unfortunately the good looking one is completly dead. Reading the net about the M0110 I found that using a wrong phone cable can cause the keyboard controller go bad ...

WTB [EU/DE] Alps SKCC cream tall stem and 6-keycap

I got hold of an Apple M0110 keyboard which needs some care to be fully operational. One of the stems is broken of. Its Alps SKCC cream tall according to the DT wiki. Also I need a "& 6" keycap.

I´m from Germany and would cost-wise prefer shipping within Europe and/or Germany.

[EU/DE] Alps SKFL Lock switch for Apple IIc keyboard repair

I got myself an Apple IIc. A nice machine in good condition. Upon cleaning the machine I realized that the shift lock switch of the keyboard (Apple hairpin type) does not lock. I desoldered the switch from the PCB and opened it according to https://deskthority.net/wiki/Alps_SKFL_Lock. The slider got ...

Re: Unicomp's new RP2040/Pico controller purchasing & flashing Vial-QMK guide

I recently contacted Unicomp about options to get a new Mini M _with_ the Pico based controller. They told me that international Mini Ms are getting the old controller no matter what. You have to order an additional controller for a $24 fee and self-install it. Thats a pita and I ask myself whats ...

Yes, the caps are quite nice. I´d rather keep the board as it is XT/AT switchable as mentioned.

Found: WTB [EU/DE]: two keycaps plus plunger for older Cherry G81 board

I got hold of an old Cherry G81-3000 HAD keyboard. Its AT+XT switchable I believe and I want to restore it. Unfortunately it is missing two keycaps, the F8 cap and the backticks one. Also one of the plugers is broken of. The keycaps are doubleshot ones. The switches are Cherry MY.

Re: Unicomp Model M not working / need advice

*g*

Maybe the foam pad placed under the membrane dried/aged uneven. So the needed pressure which presses the membrane against the PCB contacts was not there anymore or inconsistant. Probably it would be wise to replace the foam pad with something similar.

Re: Unicomp Model M not working / need advice

It works, after removing and reinstalling the controller PCB. *yeah*

I consulted https://support.pckeyboard.com/knowledg ... article=71 for reference. Removing the PCB and cleaning the PCB and the membrane contacts with IPA helped indeed. But what a fragile construction this is.

Unicomp Model M not working / need advice

I own a Unicomp Model M build around 2012. It was stored away for quite a long time and I took it out of its storage these days for use. Unfortunately I realized that a lot of keys do not register anymore. :(

If you own the original SDL cable then using an "external" soarers converter by orihalcon would be plug and play. Of course you have to "un-mod" the previous owners USB-mod.

Re: Improving Unicomp's keycap legend alignment in 2021

Today I got a few single keycaps for my M122. While the printing quality is much much better than a few years ago (much sharper, no more fuzzy chars anymore, even better then original ones), the alignment is questionable.

I got the PgUp/PgDn keys and the NumLock for example:

Re: M122 - two keys do not send any scancodes

I think I found a crack in the membrane. It is in the area where the membrane connector is bent over towards the controller pcb. Looking thought the membrane towards a light source you can see the J trace is cut and another is nearly broken and it is only a matter of time till it breaks.

I should ...

Re: M122 - two keys do not send any scancodes

Ouch. A bad membrane or trace would be a bummer. If I read the matrix correct the J trace (or the corresponding part on the controller board) would be the one in question. I´ll take the board apart (again) and check this.

Wortmann with its brand name Terra is a german computer manufacturer, still operating today. See https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wortmann_AG

They are mainly producing budget oriented equipment and PCs. Sure the keyboard came with the logo attached? Maybe someone glued it on back in the day.
