Re: Unicomp's new RP2040/Pico controller purchasing & flashing Vial-QMK guide
I contacted Unicomp after their initial response again and they told me that the problem selling the boards internationally lies within import complications. So this is a regulatory issue as I thought.

Re: Unicomp's new RP2040/Pico controller purchasing & flashing Vial-QMK guide
I recently contacted Unicomp about options to get a new Mini M _with_ the Pico based controller. They told me that international Mini Ms are getting the old controller no matter what. You have to order an additional controller for a $24 fee and self-install it. Thats a pita and I ask myself whats th...

Re: WTB [EU/DE]: two keycaps plus plunger for older Cherry G81 board
Yes, the caps are quite nice. I´d rather keep the board as it is XT/AT switchable as mentioned.

Found: WTB [EU/DE]: two keycaps plus plunger for older Cherry G81 board
I got hold of an old Cherry G81-3000 HAD keyboard. Its AT+XT switchable I believe and I want to restore it. Unfortunately it is missing two keycaps, the F8 cap and the backticks one. Also one of the plugers is broken of. The keycaps are doubleshot ones. The switches are Cherry MY. Has anyone spare c...

Re: Unicomp Model M not working / need advice
*g*
Maybe the foam pad placed under the membrane dried/aged uneven. So the needed pressure which presses the membrane against the PCB contacts was not there anymore or inconsistant. Probably it would be wise to replace the foam pad with something similar.

Re: Unicomp Model M not working / need advice
It works, after removing and reinstalling the controller PCB. *yeah*
I consulted https://support.pckeyboard.com/knowledg ... article=71 for reference. Removing the PCB and cleaning the PCB and the membrane contacts with IPA helped indeed. But what a fragile construction this is.

Unicomp Model M not working / need advice
I own a Unicomp Model M build around 2012. It was stored away for quite a long time and I took it out of its storage these days for use. Unfortunately I realized that a lot of keys do not register anymore. :( Through its live the keyboard lost some rivets, but not so much that this could be an issue...

If you own the original SDL cable then using an "external" soarers converter by orihalcon would be plug and play. Of course you have to "un-mod" the previous owners USB-mod.

Oh yes, they are clearly not original. Probably there are some feets available which are visually more pleasing and less "intrusive".

SOLD [EU/DE] FS: IBM M122 Battleship case, square IBM badge
I have a spare M122 Battleship case with square IBM badge. I dont have any use for atm nor any components to put inside. I'd like to sell it. It is the type of case with the later M-like flip out feet. Its slightly yellowed and has a square area around the F keys where some kind of overlay was place...

Re: Improving Unicomp's keycap legend alignment in 2021
For me, Its not that I don't notice the flaws. More that I'm so overwhelmingly happy this company and its product actually exists against all odds. For sure. I would pick a Unicomp keyboard with all its imperfections over any other keyboard (original IBM ones excluded ;) ). We all know that Unicomp...

Re: Improving Unicomp's keycap legend alignment in 2021
Today I got a few single keycaps for my M122. While the printing quality is much much better than a few years ago (much sharper, no more fuzzy chars anymore, even better then original ones), the alignment is questionable. I got the PgUp/PgDn keys and the NumLock for example: Unicomp ones; the arrow ...

Re: M122 - two keys do not send any scancodes
I think I found a crack in the membrane. It is in the area where the membrane connector is bent over towards the controller pcb. Looking thought the membrane towards a light source you can see the J trace is cut and another is nearly broken and it is only a matter of time till it breaks. I should so...

Re: M122 - two keys do not send any scancodes
Ouch. A bad membrane or trace would be a bummer. If I read the matrix correct the J trace (or the corresponding part on the controller board) would be the one in question. I´ll take the board apart (again) and check this.

M122 - two keys do not send any scancodes
I thought I just finished my M122 Batteship after some trouble. I screw-modded it as it was in need of it. I flashed a brand new Pro Micro to serve as a converter. Much to my surprise I found that all keys do register and send scancodes when running hid_listen but two do not. It is the center key in...

Wortmann with its brand name Terra is a german computer manufacturer, still operating today. See https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wortmann_AG
They are mainly producing budget oriented equipment and PCs. Sure the keyboard came with the logo attached? Maybe someone glued it on back in the day.

Includes all caps as pictured and the stems below. One blank cap is missing from the picture, I'll have a look in my spares if I can prov...

It sould be safe to put the caps into the dish washer as long as you dont use the highest available temperatures. Wearing them blank is nearly impossible due to the process the caps were made.

Re: Model M Battlecruiser / Battleship innards interchangeable?
I managed to crack open the barrel plate. Its a mess. Even the membrane is rusted. I could save about a dozen of the springs/hammers, the plastic barrel frame, but everything else is not salvagable. I'll try to machine down the back plate but I'm unsure if it will work. It not only rusted fro...

Water or other liquid which gets spilled over the keys and find its way into the backplate-membrane-barrel plate sandwich.

Capacitor leakage is a problem which exists only on the Model M2. All other Ms are safe in this regard.

Re: 1993 IBM model m sending double key presses
For some reason I have a similar issue with my first-attempt screw-mod. This board sends - continuously on starting up the computer up until I press the - key (does not matter which key, the key on the numpad or the one next to right shift). After that everything works like it should. First I though...

Re: Model M Battlecruiser / Battleship innards interchangeable?
I just stripped my other M122 and test-fittet the barrel frame. As far as I can tell they are interchangeable between generations. In my case it is a somewhat tight fit due to the lock lights modifications I made to my M122. But I'm relieved I do not have to hunt for an probably unobtainable Battles...

Re: Model M Battlecruiser / Battleship innards interchangeable?
Yes, the springs (at least most of them), probably the menbrane and the backplate are lost I think. They are baked together and I'll try to seperate them. But I think the membrane is not salvageable. Unicomp would be an option, but shipping and taxes are very high. I think using parts from other dea...

A few days ago I thought I found my long searched IBM Battleship keyboard for an okay price. The joy did not last long as I opened the keyboard to clean it. I should have paid more attention to the outside look. It seems I must have found the keyboard used on the Titanic. The innards are completly r...
