Re: Let's make the worst layout ever!

The "matrix" layout in TypeMatrix solves one specific problem: being fundamentally symmetrical, it makes both human hands make the same (mirrored) motions, as opposed to different motions on the standard layout with inconsistently offset rows. Although I personally don't value it, the "matrix" desig...

Re: Let's make the worst layout ever!

Early 2000s were great for stupid layout ideas. One weird navigation/arrows cluster (from Umax):

Re: Let's make the worst layout ever!

The old typematrix was cheaply made and there were some questionable choices made regarding stabilizers, but the layout is fairly decent for touch typing. In particular, the claim that "hands are still in the same position" and there's "no ergonomic benefit" is just plain wrong, and your whole rant ...

I might be off currently, but when I looked into these kinds of Alps, it was roughly $0.5-1 per switch depending on condition.

Re: Kailh Switch Series, which one is your favorite?

That's a weak definition of "better". Good is obviously "better" than bad, but they're just creating a pile of garbage in the process of getting "good" results... and that pile of garbage, as well as the accompanying conspicuous consumption are incompatible with human survival. Which gets me to the ...

Re: Objective reasons for using a mechanical keyboard

You're missing the point… How can it be that physical objects, just by being in proximity to your gear’s circuitry, influence audio reproduction? How can the mere presence of a component’s lid, footers, or stand and the like, audibly color the sound—especially if it never touches the circuitry? Wat ...

Enter Xeno. (Zea...

What types of switches allow you to make anything like this?

Well, they have to be discrete and easy to work with. In practice, that's Cherry MX/clones or Alps SK/clones.

I mean, yes. There was this clone of Kensington Expert, it was actually shit.

But I had splitting the current Periboard-322/522 in mind.
