How would that work?
The entire keyboard is narrower; there are no Tab or Caps lock, so of course the Shift is shorter too. (The right side is analogous.)

Would you happen to know whether they're Zealio v1, or v2 already?
I'd be interested in v1 if still available.

Re: Do any keyboards besides the AEK II use Cream Dampened Alps Switches?
I know European keyboards with an AltGr key can do this. But my understanding is that those of us on ANSI keyboards need to type Alt + some four digital number on the numpad. That's merely a function of the keyboard layout in the operating system . I haven't personally touched a macintrash in years...

Re: What is the Lightest, Highest Actuating, Clicky Switch?
Low-profile switches still have 3mm travel overall. Have you tried Kailh Choc or anything like that yet? The clicky variant has a fairly good reputation. Some people find them stiffer than the normal-profile counterparts though, despite very similar specifications on paper.

It's not just any ergo board from Kickstarter, it's Keyboardio M01 by Jesse Vincent. Some of the prototypes were posted here along with some more at geekhack.thefarside wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023, 17:29I found another interesting one. An alps-compatible ergo board from kickstarter:

Short answer: Leopold or something like that Long answer… I often don't understand what "build quality" means to people. Especially considering the esteemed Model M… with its stupid fucking rivets. Okay, I know the meme. It's large and heavy and you could use it to smash some heads in a zombie apoca...

Re: Semi-silent tactile switches w/o mushiness?
springs that help prevent you from bottoming out... Ok. But that would require stronger springs and higher actuation force, right? Not quite. There's the spring length too; or it can be nonlinear. See, my vintage MX Black switches have springs swapped for old sprit's 78g springs inspired by Cherry ...

Re: Semi-silent tactile switches w/o mushiness?
I wish I could tell, but the fact of the matter is that my quietest keyboard has been ErgoDox with vintage MX Black switches that I didn't bother dampening in the end. Most of the noise comes from my fingertips hitting keycaps. Actually, that kind of answers the question: you can dampen the upstroke...

Re: Cooler Master MS120 review (Cooler Master mem-chanical hybrid)
CoolerMaster should only stay within their limits here. Keep making the HAF styled cases because I love them to bits but stay away, from anything related to KEYBOARDS. Even their mice are somewhat suspect here, eventually fail or break down but their keyboard obsession should be dropped immediately...

Scoops are the best though.
Cherry's thin keycaps (meh) have bars and so do (some?) GMK's and Chinese clones. I'm quite sure there's a wealth of information on this somewhere; I'd start with this old, somewhat dumb GH thread.

Re: Noob question re G80-1800
I can get a like-new G81 -1800 of exactly the same layout cheap (money is an issue), and so I am wondering if I could just take out the PCB from that, drop in my old one, use the new case, keycaps and USB cable and have myself a new board with my old switches inside. I don't think so. I once tried ...

Thanks, but nevermind. I briefly contemplated a few of the items that weren't marked as [gone] or [reserved], in case they were heading for the trash bin. If they're reserved though, it's fine. As I said, I do have a broken Ducky myself—I just didn't realize I could reuse it—and I believe S-Video ca...

There are plenty of use cases, although many of them are niche. What scancodes are actually available? Let's say I stick with a Tipro; I have a couple but not the "programming" setup currently, so I can't check for myself. Does it support scancodes for, say, Japanese input or the entire range of "mu...

Re: Fujitsu FM Towns FMT-KB205 review (Fujitsu leaf spring 3rd generation)
The pair of thumb keys in the front is a feature of the thumb-shift keyboard design created at Fujitsu. It's distinct from current mainstream Japanese input methods. Basically, the split "spacebar" is actually a pair of "shift" keys so that Japanese scripts can be more efficiently fitted in the "alp...

That would be asking too much. I'm frustrated by the lack of mainstream split-spacebar options though. The closest are models for the Japanese market and I guess the cheap GK6x series with opto-mechanical gaterons. On a related note, I bought one of those "gaming keypads" on sale last year, somethin...
