Does anyone know of some good links to get started in keyboard prototyping?

I'm particularly interested in the workings of the keyboard. Namely the wiring. Are you wiring your keyboards manually? Or hacking existing keyboards for parts/functionality. Every try a wireless or bluetooth setup. I ask because I have an idea, and would like to prototype it out.
