Re: Deskthority header images v2

Ha! That’s *not* the lesson I intended. I should learn by now that a picture deletes a thousand words. Sunlight is not necessary. See these? https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?p=433850#p433850 All taken in daytime, all natural light, but no sun. You don’t need it. In fact, a soft cloudy sky can b...

Re: Deskthority header images v2

Yes, don’t do that! What photography wants is a smooth but strong, broad spectrum light. Daylight is the best for this. I like a sunny day, but direct sunlight is unnecessary and even undesirable. For example: https://deskthority.net/download/file.php?id=9210 Matteo : These images are not for header...

Re: Daskeyboard Pro 4 and Matias Tactile Pro with Bouncing Issues

Yeah, you can well picture me mashing my faulty keys in the anxious hope they teach me my lesson! I’ve used Matias boards, but I’ve never held onto them. Even when new, the switches aren’t up to much, and the caps aren’t any better. This was back before their supplier started conning them with faili...

A master hoarder indeed. Those weighty CRTs piled on high, over better things, gives me the heebies. But such is the way of a hoard in the rough.

Best of luck with the harvest!

Same here. Of all my headers, only one I can remember is shot by artificial light: that flash shot of SSK and Realforce back to back. This is the time of year a good strobe can be most handy.

So, how would someone outside Korea go about getting those?

My interest is more academic—especially for referring other people—than personal. My heart belongs to HHKB.

I wouldn’t delete things: it’s just confusing. Re: Best mouse in case of tennis elbow

I’d imagine tennis elbow means you want to minimise arm movement. Mice are probably all poor answers in that case. Could be a good idea to look into complete replacements, like a trackpad or one of those roller mice some people swear by, or indeed a trackball. Personally, I’d try a desktop friendly ...

Re: µReview: Filco Majestouch 2 TKL with MX Silent Reds

I’ll do some photography when I’ve time. For now I’ve just my HHKB, besides. My impression is positive. I like the Cherry look of them, and I really appreciate the mellower colouring than Topre’s own rather bluish white caps. I think they’ll be a treat on my Realforce. But I’ve not given them my usu...

Re: IBM Model M (ansi w/o keycaps) & wheelwriter keycaps

€30 for an ANSI Model M that just needs some key caps sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Those wheelwriter caps buckling spring? I’d be interested if it weren’t for the dodgy alignment of the number legends. Besides that they’re easily better than Unicomps.

Re: Daskeyboard Pro 4 and Matias Tactile Pro with Bouncing Issues

Pretty much any keyboard, of whatever variety or cheapness, will make a refreshing improvement in reliability terms over recent Matias switches! You don’t need a Topre just to type, but I can confirm they do indeed achieve that significant yet mundane feat.

I was just taking the piss. When I posted the video in the first place, I warned everyone it was just my freehand phone and some opinions. Thought that might put the issue to bed, but the comments were mostly about that rather than what I said. Lesson learned: post a video and no one reads a damn wo...

Re: DT Update Log and TODO

I browse DT with my iPhone a lot. (Current version of iOS, using Safari.) Haven't seen such an error. I was getting this one a *lot* on iPhone, iPad and Mac but it seems to have vanished with Matteo's move to nginx.

Got a link for the thread where you're hitting this? Or it every thread on DT?

You weren't driven to hurl by the camerawork, eh? A refreshing perspective! It's been a month since I last laid hands on that keyboard—I've been pretty much 100% Topre over my winter in America—so I'll bring that perspective back with me when I try it again. Oh wow… those key toppers look, well, pretty careless! https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/-X8AAOSw8TJcPi62/s-l1600.jpg Zoom in on the bottom row. They are indeed just sitting on top of the original caps. Apparently quite vintage though, judging by how worn their legends are. Speaking of the legends, I c...

Hypersphere has a remapped XT he likes to show off. Perhaps he’ll provide a pic. (Beetlejuice… Beetlejuice…) My first mech was an XT. So I do have a certain fondness for them. I use DT about evenly split between phone, tablet and laptop/desktop. So I see the adaptive layout doing its thing every which way! There’s only so much of the day I’m plunked down in front of a computer. A lot of what I do on DT is swoop in via the Spy to check up while waiting a minute or two, whe...

Because of the layout. XT is very strange—an evolutionary dead end—while AT is the father of Model M and all that came since.

Re: Add honing bumps/pips to F and J keycaps?

Yes, the button is to enter firmware loading DFU mode. There may also be a magic key combo. On my TMK powered HHKB that’s both Shift keys plus Pause.

As for homing bumps: tell that to my Kishsaver! Model Fs don’t have them either. With practice, typing on them is fine.
