Seeing a Google Pay sticker on a CRT… what is this strange delight? Vintage homebrew POS, that's what! You came to the right place with this inspired madness! Thanks for sharing.

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?

Wants lightweight yet metal slab, complete redesign of the HHKB, wireless from the start, with integrated battery and all the things the HHKB gets right now retained. Expects another swings and roundabouts experience, like the R2. In either case, this year seems “optimistic.” Topre has been real bus...

I’ll gladly sit back and watch your intrepid reactions. I’m in favour of this keyboard, and Hataa’s turn to the production side, just as much as you fellas. Just don’t have the funds for speculative leaps. Best of luck, y’hear!

Bear in mind ANSI backslash is really HHKB backspace for many compact keyboard users. So merging backslashes could be a problem.

Re: Comfort Keyboard? More like passing interest turned obssession!

I mean - there has to be some market for wild ergonomic keyboards that can take some Cherry switches, surely? Strange. Thinking about this reminds me of the Anna Karenina principle : All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. The idea is that, for better or for wor...

Oh, Mr. Choc’s been around a while to know already! He’s just hinting this post is in the wrong subforum. As for the boards, I’d agree. Those caps are what put me off, and the white case colour. Hard to showcase your own infinitely nicer caps against a white background, everything other than straigh...

Try both. You’ve nothing to lose. At a guess, I’d trust Xmit. Soarer’s instructions are specifically for Teensies, not Pro Micro.

I second that. I’m so gay for Mac I’d make a drag queen blush. But the hardware is unnecessary for testing at this point. Better to go with a solid VM than a janked up, obsolescent laptop.

Re: Problem with IBM Model F AT - all LED lights light up, no key output

That info would have helped! Note that the poor converter is saying XT on subsequent tries. It’s not identifying the keyboard correctly after the first, abortive attempt. The kind of thing you might expect if there’s just not enough juice reaching the thirsty AT original controller. It may be poweri...

Re: 65% Model F – Open Group Build

Discovering this a little late, I'll ask a likely dumb question: could a 60% Model F build be Poker case compatible? There's many good ones out there in classy materials, and, uh, some of us happen to be 60% purists who find any immediately adjacent extra keys to be a recipe for fodsdyrt/

Re: IBM Model F XT smoothness.

I'd suspect dirt along the contact areas. Namely the surface under the caps (which forms the slider) and rubs along the barrels; plus the outer face of those, too. Nothing that you'd need to separate the plates to reach should be responsible for a lack of smoothness.

Still struggling to get this to work.

This is what I get on HID listen by disconnecting and reconnecting…
This still your Pro Micro running Soarer's converter? Looks like it's resetting over and over. Which still points to hardware, not anything software can do.

Re: Problem with IBM Model F AT - all LED lights light up, no key output

I’m still thinking power draw. The AT is no ordinary AT/PS2 keyboard. It’s a beast. If you’ve got a machine with a PS/2 port handy, you could always try a simple DIN to PS/2 adapter. Those are drop dead simple pass-through. The AT is kinda sorta still supported by relatively modern hardware, after a...

That’s the first I’ve heard someone speak kindly of them. Try an XT or an AT spacebar on for size. Capacitative buckling spring was plenty meaty when given extra spring! Hoof. You can feel your thumbs bulk up after a day on those.
