AT cable is the one on the left, it's a 5-pin DIN cable on the other end.

You can also confirm this by just looking to see where the wire goes, as the cable just runs right through the case.

One thing to keep in mind with this: You'll need to make custom adapters for each row. MX keys are designed to make a curve on a flat board whereas Buckling Springs are designed to make a curve on a curved board.

Or you can just save time and get a Model M! :D Alright, you don't have to, a lot of people don't like how loud they are. They don't, however, loose their legends or get shiny and are fairly cheap. Regarding the original question, I wouldn't worry too much about the shine. Unless you work in the mid...

I find it interesting that you got banned for using a VPN, unless it's a public one or something. I use one to get around the school web filter and I've never been banned.

I still find it depressing how little progress we've achieved in the last 10 years, being as I still have a couple Dell Inspirons that weren't even high end with 1920x1200 15" displays, yet a modern 15" laptop seems to be coming with a 1366x768 display which is what I would expect in 2006, not 2013....

IBM EMR Keyboard

I've decided it's about time to clean this thing, but before I did that I wanted to take some pictures of it, better than the ones I posted on geekhack back in February. Please excuse the soft focusing, this Canon T4i I'm borrowing has the worst autofocus I've ever seen. http://goput.it/0ts.jpg http...

I would also like to nominate ebay sellers. A lot of them are the worst kind of people - ones that over value everything by about 9002% Not only that, you also find ebay sellers who think it's appropriate to pack your $200 keyboard in a plastic bag and shove it in a flat rate box with no extra paddi...

I'm a fan of the IBM 3278 full size board. A 3278 board has quite a nice feel to the switches, as well as the strength to survive the zombie duck apocalypse, something that not many keyboards can do.

Woo hoo! Seems I'm able to go tomorrow!

Anyone want to trade a random Cherry MX keyboard they have, any one, any switch as long as it has key caps and is PS/2 or AT? I have two Model M 122s and 3 83-key Model Fs I could trade.

I'm a bit odd in that I actually quite like the Alps Plate Spring switch that's used in the PS/2 P70. My only complaint is the PS/2 P70 has a raised keyboard without plate mounted switches, making for a very flexible keyboard.

I strongly believe that xwhatsit's Beamspring USB controller is one of the best mods of the year. Making a beamspring board work on a modern computer has been a major issue for a while, with lots of work put into it and he has not only made it work on USB, but he also has working NKRO and doesn't de...

IBM 3278 Beamspring to PS/2 controller

Something interesting that just showed up on the classiccmp mailing list here, a 3278 (Beamspring) to PS/2 controller\adapter. The interesting part of this one is it isn't a controller replacement, but something that goes on the end of the existing controller. A link: http://www.ibmsystem3.nl/IBM327...

There are a couple problems I can think of with 3D printing these right away: 1.) You would need to design them vertical, with the cherry mount down. This here is to make sure that you get a somewhat round side on the IBM side and to make sure overhang doesn't kill the design. 2.) Making sure that y...

I wouldn't be too worried about what camera you guys have; I use a Canon 300D (Digital Rebel) that's 9 years old and a Canon Speedlite 199A or old Vivitar flash from the 80s and I get halfway decent results using guess-n-check exposure.
