Re: How many keyboards?
I guess I'm just too utilitarian. More a keyboard appreciator than a collector. Though the surprising number of keyboards I have purchased over the past few days says otherwise. My excuse? Being only recently interested in vintage keyboards, they are so different from their contemporary counterpart...

Re: How many keyboards?
You deserve as many keyboards as your wife has pairs of shoes. That is exactly the same argument I used. It works pretty well. Another year, another 10 pair of shoes, another 10 keyboards. It really works great if she wants expensive Italian shoes - therefore, another expensive rare vintage keyboar...

Re: Watch Photo Thread
The case of my retro (not vintage) Casio broke. Shoddy chromed plastic instead of metal. :( I hate plastic cased watches. I remember when they came out around 1983/84 (in Canada - possibly a few years earlier elsewhere). After that, most digital watch makers switched to plastic cases and by the lat...

Classy. I think I'll get one of these, a wide collared open shirt, a chest wig and gold chain, then strut up to a hot babe and see if it works.

Re: Keyboards in movies/TV series!
Nice keyboard in the James Bond movie, The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) . TSWLM1.jpg Bond uses it to send sub targeting coordinates. There are 2 keyboards used, but I thought they faked the closeup shot of the keyboard used by the other guy because they have identical worn engraved keycaps at 2, 3 and 6 ...

Re: Unpopular opinions thread
You wouldn't believe how many women thrust themselves upon me after seeing my masterful understanding of internet semantics. Probably about as many women that thrust themselves upon me when I discuss the details of keyboard switches. I do it in a suave Bond-style double entendre. She breathlessly a...

That's free US shipping. It's $53.85 shipping to Canada. I'd have to make an offer of -$14.85 just to get that for $39. (...somehow I don't think the seller would accept)

Re: Watch Photo Thread
Same here - except for the nickel allergy. I got my first LCD watch in 1979 (...as was the style at the time). The light was only bright enough to show the last digit. Still, it was a major improvement over my previous watch - a cheap mechanical Timex piece of crap. It kept stopping, so I sent it ba...

This collection is incomplete! Where's the Micro Switch SW? Where's the ITW magnetic valve? Where's the Teletype Model 40? Where are the reed switches?
Otherwise, the collection is OK... I guess.

Yes, exactly. Look at this guy. It's hard to believe that this is a wild animal. I've got an unpopular opinion... wash bears are awesome! (although they're called "raccoons" where I am, I prefer to use the European term for them because they're like little bears.. that wash) Americans and many Canadians consider these guys to be filthy pests, like large rats that cause problems....

I was going to put in an offer. I was going to say:
"My offer is this. Nothing. Not even the fee for the shipping and customs, which I would appreciate if you would put up personally."

If I was going to get a 2260, I think I'd want the airline reservation variant. (more buttons = better) IBM 2260 airline reservation.jpg I noticed the keycaps look engraved , not double shot. Re: 1979 Lear Siegler ADM-2 keyboard (Vintage Vintage Key Tronic Foam & Foil)
Nice. I've never seen an ADM-2 before - mostly just ADM-3, ADM-5 and ADM 42. I regret not getting a blue ADM-3 for $40 when I picked up a load of computers, but I ran out of space in my car. (damn it!) I too like light weighted foam & foil, but noticed that when I replaced the disintegrated foam pad...

The IBM 4979 is just as cute and is beam spring. IBM terminals.jpg I've never actually seen any photos of it other than in IBM ads, so there's no chance of finding one of those either.
