Threads like these make me feel very nostalgic. Nostalgic for a time where this forum brought me positive emotions rather than negative ones.

Re: Introduction to Materials

Such a great post, thanks for taking the time to write this out. I hope a lot of people see this, because it's an essential read. I studied mechanical engineering at university too, and I think you've effectively condensed all of my materials courses into one post  You even reminded me of o...

Re: [IC] GMK ThinkCaps

Stating the obvious here, but this is neither the Canadian bilingual nor the Canadian multilingual layout . The letters with diacritics barely even share positions with either. Other than these pictures, I didn't know this layout even existed. I'd like to see more of this, so I can document this va...

Re: [IC] GMK ThinkCaps

I'd love to be proven wrong, but the only Canadian layout keyboards made by Cherry that we've seen pictures of are some NCRs with dyesub caps : G81-3077SAU https://www.rdlongcomputers.ca/images/ebay/3299-K440-V002-1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JreFva4.jpg and this weird G81-3007SAU which came up the oth...

Re: [IC] GMK ThinkCaps

Do you need the R5 keys for full-size, TKL or 60%? I would only be using it for TKL personally, but full-size would be great. It was only a small thing, I didn't mean to derail the thread so much when I suggested it  I don't think the steep profile of R5 is for everyone, but I think there's a ...

Anyone got side pics of this profile? https://i.imgur.com/92r5zCg.png R4/B-profile on the left, R5/A-profile on the right. It's worth noting that R4/B-profile is also used for the shift row. It's also worth noting that the spacebar has its own profile, and remains identical regardless of whether R4...

Re: [IC] GMK ThinkCaps

@photekq Is A profile higher at the front edge? If so, I won’t likely like it, but options are always good. You won’t be alone in your preference (whatever it is!) Yeah, A-profile/R5 is the steeper bottom row profile that was used on most winkeyless vintage Cherry boards, like that G81-3100SDU you ...

Re: [IC] GMK ThinkCaps

Thank you! I take it that it's a serious request? :) Yeah, A-profile is a bit niche, but there are plenty of people out there who much prefer it to B-profile. Both in terms of aesthetics and haptics. Without A-profile support I'd consider buying one set for a HHKB layout board. With A-profile suppo...

I love the design of the set. I'd absolutely buy multiple sets, but there's one thing niggling at me: I'd love to see A-profile (R5) winkeyless bottom row support.

Re: Wholesale lot of keyboards!

Sure for someone who fancies keycaps or the case it makes sense. But the keyboard in itself is an outright shame in the keyboard community (primarily for those horrible switches). I've always had a sweet spot for the 3077. It was the first 3000 variant that really caught my eye, the case colour and...

Re: 1800 layout keyboard UK advice

Interesting perspective, one that I haven't heard before and one that I'm not sure many others share. I myself have never typed on one of these older G80s. Now, I'd be interested to try it just to see if I can get a sense of what you're talking about. However, I recon Tim is choosing between a new ...

Re: 1800 layout keyboard UK advice

I would go with the Leopold. It has better build quality. Leopolds are more rigid and heavier than Cherry G80s thanks to the metal plate. If you like the typing feel/sound of a rigid keyboard, then the Leopold could be a great choice. They're good keyboards - no doubt about that. ...And vice versa,...

Re: [FS] 2 x NOS Arc Cherry G80 3000 Devlin Customized

I appreciate your honesty, i really do. What i am saying is, if there is a keyboard of the same model in this c...

Re: [FS] 2 x NOS Arc Cherry G80 3000 Devlin Customized

I think you'll struggle to get 50USD for these. Nobody really cares about Devlin caps, especially not lasered/pad printed ones. The board itself is a newer G80 too, which doesn't have much to offer.

Maybe someone will pull the trigger though; who knows? But if I were you I'd temper my expectations.

They're the Olivetti dyesubs from an unknown manufacturer. MX mount, but stabilised keys aren't compatible with regular MX stabilisers.
