Re: New Member, Need some advice
@Holymnky: Welcome to Deskthority (DT)! I have enjoyed the mechanical keyboard hobby for quite a few years, and my collection includes many varieties of switch types, keyboard sizes and form factors, keyboard layouts, and keycap compositions and colors. In my own case, I prefer a 60% form factor, HH...

Re: Share Your SEXIEST Vintage Boards!
Newest pick-up that I thought would make a nice addition to this forum. This is a ZKB-2, but unfortunately with the ugly Bull badge rather than the lightning Z one. The chassis is awesome though. This one has Yellow Alps. Zenith made some good boards. Among them, I like the 163-73 variant of the ZK...

Unfortunately, the SSK Blue printed keys did not work well for me, and I anticipate that the dark gray printed keys would likewise not work for me. However, this is probably due to my vision issues and the dim lighting I use in my study. I just need more contrast between the background and the print...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
This morning, I completed a floss mod on my ultra-compact-case F62, which I've dubbed "f62". This time, the job went much faster, because I had previously cut the floss into 15 mm pieces using a single-edged razor blade and a strip of boxwood marked with lines spaced 15 mm apart. As others have not...

Re: Zenith Z-150 restoration
Good to see people enjoying vintage Zenith boards. The black label on them is a retro aesthetic delight, and the layout lends itself fairly well for programming my favorite layout -- HHKB. The PrtSc key is perfect as Fn, and the oversized Right Bracket can serve as the Backspace (although this makes...

Correct. If you push real hard though, you can just about move the goalposts wherever you need them. Even the humble XT isn’t as cheap as it used to be, of course. An F is an F. Anyone know IBM’s original selling price for them? Not sure if XT keyboards were sold separately -- they were bundled wit...

<snip> It's a very pretty colour.😊 Is the colour closer to Unicomp light blue or blue? [/quote] The perception of color is a very complex phenomenon. @snacksthecat: Great work on this C.ITOH board! I've been looking for one of these for some time, but no luck.
@Razerban: Likewise, kudos for writing the QMK firmware and sharing it.
Regarding the keycaps on this board -- What kind of plastic and which method of printing?

Greetings -- I have been away for a long time. I just received my new Ellipse Compact F62. Everything seems to be working okay, except that I would like to make a few changes to the layout. @Gurbsordidity: I mentioned in a fairly recent post that the medium-size plexiglass "roofs" formerly sold by the now-defunct Elite Keyboard company fit perfectly on a F62 standard-case keyboard. I must say, the Zenith black labels are beautiful boards. If only they had a US ANSI enter with a full-size backslash (which I like to remap as backspace). I've click-modded mine and installed a Teensy (which you apparently don't need on your board). Best wishes for a smooth sale. Someone is going t...

I saw a QF Rapid and a QF Stealth recently on eBay (US) for quite reasonable prices, considering that these keyboards have apparently been discontinued and all the vendors I've looked at are sold out. Shipping to the UK along with the import tax might add quite a lot to the cost, however.

@SneakyRobb: The shape of the flipper looks good. However, does it have capactitive properties? The model F flippers have either carbon black or short carbon fibers added to the plastic to impart electrical capacitance. Have you added either of these ingredients to your resin?

@SneakyRobb: I agree!
Imagine playing your keyboard in this room:
Of course, it's the inside of a violin. I've often thought it would be good to create a keyboard case with a resonating chamber and a moveable sound post, like that found inside a violin, for tuning the acoustics.
