Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

that's interesting, the led was working for me but I only tested it so far with commonsense and the cypress based controller.. I'd start finally test it with xwhatsit indeed..

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

it depends from the point of view and the use of it on the specific machine.. I'd say the F77 has a more modern layout for instance! :P

Yes, on several f62 and I believe just one f77 but if you're willing to give it a try yourself.. It's unbelievable good in my opinion! :))

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Ah ok lol! Somehow I misread 3278. Anyway you can give it a try, and the qmk in my opinion has great autocalibration and stability so far.

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

BTW, I was pointed out that the xwhatsit 0.9.2 fw for beamsprings needs to be compiled from source.. You cannot reuse the .hex compiled for model F!

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

I have a question regarding the 0.9.2 firmware: is it any good for a xwhatsit controller that is attached to an IBM 3178 keyboard (with 16x8 matrix), or is it specific to this Model F? I have one which starts double registering some keys and not register others after some time of use (at first, twe...

Re: READY - Cheap DIY Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

no I doubt you can brick it, but you could get to a not nice stack overflow maybe? :) I don't know the proton and if that would be much better, but in the end we also wanted to use here something cheap and easy to source, which also is part of the "mission" statement, right? But there are also secre...

Re: READY - Cheap DIY Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

You can remove from the BOM the item 8: C2 C_Disc_D3.0mm_W1.6mm_P2.50mm 1 10U BTW, andrei did the whole firmware while not having the HW at hand while I was doing the testing "remotely", as-usual!  The most difficult part here was the new DAC and his protocol, which is different from the ...

Re: READY - Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

That's a good question and indeed one of the main problems for implementing qmk on those tiny chips.. It comes to the limit when calibrating the thresholds since we cannot keep in memory like one calibration point per key, but we have to make tradeoffs.. Especially for beamsprings this seems quite t...

Re: READY - Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

correct, it's the first time somebody manages to imlement capacitive sensing in QMK.. it's quite a breakthrough I'd say! Could be beneficial also for other capacitive boards! I was dreaming about this since a couple of years.. at least! :)

pruxoid I PM you. about QMK: stay tuned and be patient, the pull request with the ppl from QMK is not so easy and straightforward but s in the process.. In the meantime other great news and success thanks to pandrew here: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?p=466111#p466111 There is now a cheap + ...

Re: READY - Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

Hi ho capacitive community! Great news on the horizon: this PCB works and is going to be supporting QMK! Pandrew managed to do yet another miracle and after having ported QMK on the regular xwhatsit controller PCB, now managed to do the same also on this PCB! So far we noticed just a few minor impro...

Re: Coming Soon - Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

That's a funny switch then in there.. Not sure why they did this but theoretically I think it could work as well, as probably even topre could possibly work with pandrei 's capacitive algorithm.. Calibration seems the real tricky thing in this game and most likely the atmega32u2 or u4 have not enoug...

Re: Coming Soon - Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

I didn't see this project mentioned but since it uses capacitive switches and qmk i thought it would be relevant. I'm not sure what the chips are in the photo to use the project as a base. https://github.com/ginjake/qmk_firmware/tree/ec_helix/keyboards/ec_helix Ciao Gipetto, are you sure those swit...

so we also have dmg and binaries indeed now that are finally tested on all OSes, cool!

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

We still did not test the solenoid expansion header but I'd say that should be an easy part then, will let you know when we manage to test it as well, I've already an xwhatsit solenoid driver to drive the original ibm beamspring solenoid here.. and I'm also interested in trying the other solutions l...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Yes that would be good; the problem is the keyboard spams keys as soon as it's plugged in, if the xwhatsit threshold is set too low. If there's a way to automatically send the xwhatsit into bootloader when it's connected that would be great. correct that's what this utility should do. I've sent you...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Hi Ellipse! I wanted to inform you that actually pandrei also made a small nice utility that should compile in Win, Mac and Linux (it's QT5) that is able to reset the xwhatsit without the need to press physically the reset pads i.e. without needing to open the case. Maybe this might help as well. I ...
