Somehow it's nice to see we all define ergonomics differently :D The left shift is harder to reach on ISO keyboards... such a heavily used key, on a corner, needs to be long. But as a matter of fact, the heaviest use of the left Shift is certainly made by German typists, as in German all nouns begin...

Other arguments against ANSI: the missing key the position of which is occupied by the long left Shift key Do you mean the pipe and forward slash key? I much prefer where it is on ANSI layout, above the enter key. I think the only key I miss from the ISO position is the hash # symbol. As I use it a...

That's your unwillingness to adapt that is the problem. Not a problem with ANSI. Well, I don't know why one should adapt to machines instead of having machines to adapt to one's wishes. I learned typing long, long ago on a mechanical typewriter. Then I adapted to an electric typewriter where carria...

There is no such thing as double-shot LED window keys from Cherry. The Cherry ones are pad printed with a coating. Same contrast as their double shots, though. Oh I see. Well, I could always drill a hole in a DS one and fill it with something. :D I would say there's no need for that. After several ...

Nice suggestions ;-) I wanted to take a pic to show an undisclosed detail: the front side of the key is lettered as well. And then I discovered the key even has a side (right to left) slope: http://img803.imageshack.us/img803/2673/enter2h.jpg Now I wouldn't be surprised if it started speaking

(MX compatible) AEG Olympia typewriter keycaps

AEG_Olympia_3.jpg Nice keycap slope. The keycap tops are cylindrical with a smooth rounded front edge. The keycaps on the side rows all have the same profile as the typewriter's Tab row (quite identical to the CapsLock row on a Cherry keyboard). AEG_Olympia_1.jpg Layout of the typewriter keyboard. ...

As far as I can judge, these are not 1x3 keys, but double keys with 3 cruciform fittings spaced exactly like the "0" NumPad key of a Cherry keyboard (one centered, the other ones to fit the stabilisators).

Wouldn't it be better, instead of stabilizers, to use three switches under each 1x3 spacebar, removing the springs from the left and the right one? They will then act exactly as stabilizers do. This would allow to reconfigurate the keyboard anytime by inserting springs again. So instead of 3+3 you c...

That's true, but it doesn't 'balance' the key cap like a proper stabilizer would. As long as you're mostly hitting the end with the sprung switch I guess it would be acceptable though. More than that. On my Tipro I even have only one stem for the (double width) backspace keycap, because I did not w...

The shiny spot on my spacebar is below 'N' - so that counts out the three double width bars for me at least! I think it would start to feel cramped anyway. Also, the PCB layout wouldn't work for double width keys with stabilizers. It would work if each bar had two actual switches (POS style), but t...
