Re: Cherry appreciation topic

Those first generation MY switches are in fact rather pleasant to type on, they have nothing in common with the horrible white ones which Cherry chose to replace them with.
Probably some Youtube "influencer" out there would even rate them better than MX black switches

I do have a G80-3000 LSMDE (MX blue switches and purple PS/2 connector).
Given the noise it generates, I would gladly get rid of it

Liking the 2 u delete key, by the way. Fuck insert, it's anti-useful! Sorry to have to again disagree. It toggles between Overwrite and Insert modes in Word, but also in other programs where it is even more useful. If you ever had to write/edit film subtitles (where each line has a maximum length),...

I have already sold quite a few caps from the G81-3000 SAD missing two caps I bought a few years ago at a local flea market, but the left Shift is still there  Of course original Cherry dyesub, black on beige, 1.25u with centered stem, excellent condition. […] Indeed. Plenty of the "old" layouts still have the non-combining versions for reasons that were defensible "back in the day", but not anymore... and the layouts don't ever get revised. Re: Let's make the worst layout ever!

The old typematrix was cheaply made and there were some questionable choices made regarding stabilizers, but the layout is fairly decent for touch typing. In particular, the claim that "hands are still in the same position" and there's "no ergonomic benefit" is just plain wrong, and your whole rant...

Obviously the difference between depletedvespene and me is that he doesn't speak French while I have been typing French texts on an AZERTY keyboard on a daily basis for, hem, decades. Somehow this thread reminds me of depletedvespene's thread " A proposal for a new, (hopefully) better French national layout " where he (as the discussion showed) very correctly started with the following statement: First, a disclaimer: I am not French and I don't know anything about anything. Now, ...
