What is important for me :
1) capability to change key location
2) key rows verticaly aligned
3) capability to tent (split design or tented keyboard)

vd1 stands for "virtual desktop 1", keycode is mapped to an openbox shortcuts that do the trick

What I'm going to do with my keycaps and some round4 keycaps that I have. The thumb keys and bottom row are not definitive since I have not finished my layout and I haven't yet an Ergodox to test it.

@7bit Earlier you said that all ErgoDox thumb keys were R3, but this: http://deskthority.net/wiki/File:HONEY_ERGO_sample.png shows four of them as being R2. Was your earlier statement correct, or is that diagram correct?

The earlier statement was correct at the time, but 7bit changed the diagram ...

The more I think about it, the more my proposal about the spare keys look silly. I don't have any use for those 3 keys so I don't really care. But it looks like the most logical use for them is in row 1.
