Re: µReview: Filco Majestouch 2 TKL with MX Silent Reds

A-ha, after talking with you about those keycaps at the time - when the kbdfans groupbuy ran - I kept wanting to ask how you finally found them, just that I'm so freakin' busy lately. Good to know you do like them :)

It's written on the label visible in one of the pics, if you open it in a separate tab (zoomable) - round 2.

Not sure if these kinds of links work anymore, but here's a try: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/topre-realforce-tkl-r2?mode=guest_open In any case, they sell 4 models (in stock, shipping in January 17th, drop ends in 3 days): "Fullsize - Black - 55g, Fullsize - Black - Variables, Tenkeyless - Black - ...

I'm sorry, you have the springs confused. These are not the springs under the domes, that indeed have no "functionality in terms of force". These are "after-market" springs designed especially to add force, and they are placed under the keycap (they don't replace the original springs under the domes).

The keyboards just sits there, since these days I use Topre keyboards both at home, at work and when traveling, so I can't say too much about the Aliaz pink switches. Compared to the browns, the spring is a bit heavier; I don't think they are more tactile than the browns, it's hard to compare since,...

The plate I used is ANSI, if that's what you're asking - i.e. the answer is no (you would have to desolder all switches, then buy and use an ISO plate instead). The keys can be mapped to any layout in firmware (QMK), but you can't modify the physical aspect of it.

These are cheap, PBT, but lasered:

If you're not set on the "nordic" ISO though, you can also find more (better quality) keysets there.

Maybe some 10g springs from aliexpress?

They can be placed under the keycaps. Won't enhance tactility, just make the pushing a bit harder.

Fortunately, Deskthority is not reddit ;) (AFAIK, timestamps are not required here) No German IBM Mµ keys? I’m still short of one, or several, of those. Preferably single piece, to match the rest on my Kishsaver. The "ii) German 2 piece keycaps" does have a german Mµ key, if you can put up with the ...

If it's just for show, it does nothing, so it's not mechanical :D In this sense, yes, the better a switch does its function (and, for keyboards, this means two things: to actually actuate and to feel good for the user), the more "mechanical" it is :P

Do you sell that Model F XT case separately? (i.e. without the PCB) If so, dibs! Could you estimate shipping costs to a major city in Romania?

I have a Bigfoot and I understand that it's possible to move its innards to an XT case (and I'd like to do that).

The Deltasplit75 uses 2 Pro Micros, maybe you can take inspiration from that project (its firmware is now integrated into the official QMK).

I wonder if the PCB of a "normal" Bigfoot supports changing to that "two keys" format? In the same way ISO and ANSI Model Ms can be modded from one to the other.
