Re: homing bumps on other keys!
I use an apple aek at work with bumps on d and k. Just an adjustment period. When I switch to another board, it maybe takes me a couple minutes to adjust. Not a big deal now. It was however weird for like the first week or 2 for me.

Re: A little love for Unicomp
Hot take. My 2015 Unicomp M feels better than any of my IBM model M's. I'd buy more from them if I could. That being said, their new cases are definitely more creaky than OG IBM cases. That kinda makes me sad.
I'm sure its been discussed, but is it different plastic?

Had to log on just to say that I love the look of that beauty. I'd say a very usable layout as well.

I saw new model M's mentioned a few times. I have one from like 2014 or 15. Custom 103 key. Are the new M's newer than this?

Re: When did you first start appreciating keyboards?
Worked at Geek Squad retail about 10-12 years ago. I had heard about mechanical boards, but had never tried one. Lady came in to recycle some stuff including a IBM Terminal M and a Chicony KB-5181 w/Monteray blues. Never got the M converted, but I used the Chicony for a long time, and I was hooked. ...

Re: Beamspring from Hell Restoration Log
LOVE the idea of a battle scarred looking unit. I'm NO expert on paint, finish, etc, but I'd find a way to show off the case as is.

Re: Metal keycaps
I might get laughed at, but I watched a Linus tech tips vid on the most expensive keyboard they could make. They got sent a tkl keycap set made from milled brass. I think they said it cost something like 2500-3000. not sure if USD or canadian. IDK what my point really is, other than a full set of m...

Not even a fan of 10 keyless, but I think I'd buy one, and then get a seperate 10 key pad. (wish unicomp made one)

I like my keyboards like I like my women. Thiccc and pleasant to the touch. Typing this on an AEK with salmon alps. Probably one of the better products Apple ever made.

So assume I don't do the kickstarter. Will I be able to get one at a later date, (likely for a higher price). I've unfortunately used most of my reasonable disposable income on video games.

Untested, presumably works. I might have some software for it somewhere. I can test specific things on request. Have no idea what these are worth honestly.

Re: Overall opinions on the IBM model M2
I have one in poor shape, but I really like mine. My probably unpopular opinion (don't kill me) is that it feels like a hybrid between a model M and a model F. I quite like it. I'd like to get a good condition one, or a refurbed one to use, as working on them is dreadful, and the construction is qui...

I like the feel of the M2 over the M. Feels more crisp to me, and closer to how an F feels. Build quality is bad though. Thought I should edit before I get hate, my opinion is unpopular and subjective. I would always recommend trying one, but for a daily usage board I wouldn't recommend one due to ...
