Found a (Swe/Fin) laptop keyboard with Alps integrated domes. Ideas what to do with it?
Bought this 1987 Unicott Citylap 30 (believe its a clone of the COPAM LT-386SX/P) i while back for reasons i'm not really sure of. It proved to be kinda busted though as it had suffered a battery leakage (the fan starts and the HDD tries to spin up but that's it) and I'm not sure if it can be fixed....

Coiled telephone style cables: Yay or nay?
Was curious regarding peoples thoughts on them. https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1IzQmXdzvK1RkSnfoq6zMwVXae.jpg I'm personally in the "nay" crowd. They get stuck everywhere, are hard to fit through narrow spaces, heavy so they tend tend to drag the keyboard with them if they hang in the air and when th...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread
Can anyone help me identifying what the upper board this guy is selling is? It appears to have no branding, and the label just says it being manufactured in 1988 with a model number off E03418210. (while also having a FT04 label on the case, no idea what that means) 401959872_0ff90c0c-7438-4d91-b8c0...

Re: Problems with an Alps spacebar
Update: The problem returned after a while, but now i found the cause. Those bits of rubber (presumably meant to protect the tabs) had started to dissolve and was all sticky. I simply peeled them away and now the space bar seems to be working like it should.

Re: Problems with an Alps spacebar
Ok guys, got it to work. Don't know what i did different this time when reinstalling the spacebar, but it now it resets itself properly. My guess would be that i hadn't managed to fit the right part of the stabilizer properly into it's slot.

Re: Problems with an Alps spacebar
It is common for space bars to ride somewhat out of level, and nothing to worry about if it operates properly. Do make sure that the inserts that hold the wire are seated properly, and you can straighten the wire if it is bent. It does not though, you cant press the right side of it because it's "a...

Problems with an Alps spacebar
(Realized i might have posted this in the wrong section, hopefully its not to big of an issue) The board in question is one of the original Dell AT102's with salmon alps (first picture is from prior to me cleaning it). Most of the board works great, but there is something wrong with the spacebar. DS...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread
Here is a weird one. It's an AT-style board that once belonged to a Bondwell Pro 28 with what i think is an Estonian layout (or some weird hybrid one, can't think of any other language that uses å, ä, ö, and ü but no other umlauts). Label on the back says nothing beyond it being made in 1987. selle...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread
The wiki shows a very similar Canon board as having white Alps, so I think it's safe to say it's probably white Alps. I'd get the brown Alps boards regardless. Hell, if they're cheap and you're not too interested in it, I may consider buying one from you. Sadly i forgot to check the auction date fo...

Two old siemens boards with STB 21 switches and AT compatibility for any Swedish buyers. Thank you for sharing this. Re: Help with fixing a rubber dome board (Probably the controller)
Not sure how i would be able to test this theory though without bypassing the connection entirely with a wire. As a first attempt, you could just reflow the solder attached to that pin, in case it's just a flaky/marginal connection. Could try. Don't have access to a heat gun right now though, and i...

Re: Help with fixing a rubber dome board (Probably the controller)
So naturally my attention turned to the controller and and whether it might not have proper contact with the board. Doing some more testing though i still couldn't find any issues, it definitely had contact as the ones giving me trouble still worked if i installed the controller the wrong way (Obvi...
