There are the "XDA ALPS", I don't know who is producing them, but it might be available for business.
They seem to be thick or at least not thin.

Re: DIY open-source trackball similar to MTE
Archie: How do you position your hand relative to the trackball? Is it parallel? Do you rest it on the trackball also?

Re: DIY open-source trackball similar to MTE
OK, I've printed it to test the ergonomics, because I'm planning to make my own trackball design. And I don't like it. If my hand/palm is parallel to the shell my hand/palm slips of from it. There is no ledge or anything else to stop it from falling. I have to put my hand on an angle, but then the b...

Do you have any idea where I could find balls for this thing? I tried searching for 1.75 balls, but it wasn't successful.

I've hot glued cherry mx and I'll probably have to do the same on my in-the-works alps board. Alps have these wings or clips on the side which make them stick harder to the plate, so you could make it work without the glue. Cleaning hot glue shouldn't be an issue, because you could melt it gain and ...

I don't know why people waste their time with protocols and apps for configuring the layout.
Especially when they are about to make a single board.

@matto: You can search for images of pravetz 8 machines on the internet. These were Bulgarian machines sold in the eastern block and as far as I can see they have the additional Russian characters, not present in the Bulgarian alphabet. Unfortunately I don't think they have all of the modifiers. Pra...

The keyboard sends USB HID codes (defined here http://www.usb.org/developers/hidpage/Hut1_12v2.pdf) Then the HID driver interprets them as the appropriate symbols. If you want to have non default shift+Something keys you need to implement your own protocol and then write a keyboard driver that suppo...

Blender is probably a good option free software. But the answer to this question is - the one that you know the best. I'm using Maya, just because I know how to model in it. All these applications are complex and unintuitive at the beginning and most of the times the learning curve is quite steep. A...

Alps for a custom board, please. Mostly interested in alphas and fn keys. But I'll buy one or two tenkeyless sets if needed. Btw my dsa pbt alps blanks from SP are pretty good, I don't know why everybody is complaining. They are the same as the dsa pbt blanks cherries. The fit is also similar to Tai...

Have someone seen/used SP DSA ABS double shots in Alps stem? I have one such cap that is for the MX stem and it is terrible. It sounds hollow compared to both SP DSA PBT blank caps and some generic cherry g80-3000 post 2000/2005 caps (the keyboards price as new was something like 75 euro). I'm using...
