How much an IBM 3178 Keyboard cost?

I'd say $120. Those are cool but at the same time the layout makes it about as usable as an XT.

Re: IBM 5251 Beamspring Keyboard Restoration

Please, no Soarers. The only reason to use soarers over QMK / TMK would be for the wyse converter. TMK / QMK are more actively updated, and even support more boards. And the remapping process is better. It's great being able to use layers in a way that actually makes sense. And the creators of QMK/...

Re: IBM 5251 Beamspring Keyboard Restoration

I would definitely be up for an expansion card group buy. We might even be able to get Soarers programmed into the expansion card for custom key mapping. There could even be other ports as well. There could be a Wyse connector, 180-degree DIN for F122 and M122, adb, PS/2(so there could be remapping...

Re: IBM 5251 Beamspring Keyboard Restoration

That would be really cool having a din port on modern Pc's. I use an external soarers converter that I got from Orihalcon that takes the cable from 5 pin DIN to USB + gives me custom key mapping. Yup, I have the same thing for my F122. The only way I can think of something like that being done is a...

Re: IBM 5251 Beamspring Keyboard Restoration

Unfortunately the Beamspring just has a relatively thick USB cable. Hope that helps. I think he wants to know where you got that cable regardless of which board i...

The boxes look good. While I think dark blue would have looked even better, the black looks really nice too. Now the boxes become like the IBM Model M badges. The earliest ones have black, later ones have blue.
That a really good observation! I think this works out for the best.

Re: [FS] - IBM Model F AT with USB adapter

I haven't found a way yet. Every foam replacement with the smaller models has been pretty awful. Because there aren't any center tabs, it's very difficult to evenly compress the foam unless it's very soft or thin. Clamping to engage the tabs bends the backplate so that it is no longer parallel with...

I wish that clamp method would work on the narrower Fs... you know, clamping right near the tabs. Unfortunately, that messes up the key feel.
Really how so? How else would you do it? Clamp in the center?

Just how clean are the legends on those XT modules? only issue with mine is the "smudged" legends, although an unused module certainly wouldn't hurt.

[H]Displaywriter Beamspring [W] Different Beamspring

I acquired this Displaywriter Beamspring from Computer Reset. I love the switches, but have never been a fan of ISO enter. Condition is fair, no major chips on case, board is grimy but that can be fixed easily. A few stems are bent slightly, but that can be easily fixed as well. The spacebar is stuc...
