Re: CH Products RollerMouse poor tracking

Sorry to hijack this thread but I am absolutely in-love with this trackball since seeing pictures of its construction and I'm curious: 1. If I am understanding correctly, the ball is supposed to touch and rotate the bearings, not the rods themselves, right? 2. What are the two black plastic wheels ...

Re: CH Products RollerMouse poor tracking

Why ? Because they're different, perhaps? You're free to call R2 bearings 3.175 x 9.525 x 3.967mm ones, of course, or try to mount PC hard disk with M4 screws. 8-) Here R2's are sold as 3.18x9.53x3.97mm bearings ;-). Lets call them R2 lol. I thought you meant that metric was forbidden on this forum.

Re: CH Products RollerMouse poor tracking

Millimeters aren't suitable units here. Why ? Metric system is used worldwide, while imperial units are barely used outside of USA / UK (with a mix of both systems in Canada). I was looking for optical encoders today and a 2mm shaft is equivalent to 0.079" ... Millimeters are so much more easy (4mm...

Re: CH Products RollerMouse poor tracking

GuilleAcoustic , glad to see you back! I'd like to say big thanks for your article about DT225 conversion! Actually, I've used parts of your Arduino code to do similar thing, but with full 4-button support. Thanks for the welcome back :D. I've been deskless for the last 3 years, but I'm back on tra...

Here are the pictures of my RollerMouse: https://imgur.com/a/poFqzVR Now that's weird ... I was expecting something like this ... https://i.imgur.com/80ptjIZ.jpeg Maybe you have one of the latest Rollermouse, just before they released the Trackball PRO / DT225. When you're spinning the rod by hand,...

Re: CH Products RollerMouse poor tracking

@Ozric: If that can help, here's a picture of my Trackball PRO ball suspension. I changed the rods once since the ball carved a deep groove into them after a few years of heavy use.

Re: Arthritis - Which layout and switches (need help)

I would go with a split contoured keyboard. Dactyl sounds ok. But you can save time (and probably also money) with e.g. Kinesis Advantage. You do not need to move fingers much with a contoured keyboard. But you can type with thumbs only (two finger typing) on a flat keybaord :-/ Definitely somethin...

Arthritis - Which layout and switches (need help)

Hi, I'm trying to short list everything I'll need to build a custom keeb and here's what I've narrowed down for the switches (in no order): Gateron Clear (very light, but I do have very light fingers too) Gateron Yellow Novekeys Clear (requires lubing from what I've read) Everglides Aqua King Durock...

Good find Nacho! If you like linears you are going to love this board! First of all you remove the external spring by disengaging the end that goes though the slider. Then you need to open the switch, pry the two flat sides apart being very careful not to overdo it, they break easily. After you ope...

Thanks for the write up and pictures, going to be giving this a go soon. How do you open the switch, do you just have to pry the tabs on the side? The "big" easily noticable tabs are for the plate mounting. To open the switch you have to slightly release the very small tabs on the other sides (be c...

Apple M0110 - Alps SKCC lock switch mod

Hi folks, I'm a happy user of an Apple M0110 keyboard that I converted using Hasu's TMK converter. http://i.imgur.com/JLw2QSO.jpg While I love this keyboard, I really couldn't stand the physically locking Caps Lock (that I use as the Ctrl key). The switch used is the vintage Alps SKCC Lock, that has...

Nothing really new, but I finally made an inline TMK converter for my Apple M0110: http://i.imgur.com/JLw2QSO.jpg The keyboard is yellowed, but it really matches the yellow from the ball (which is original colour). Next step it to make a definitive cable using a smaller AVR and a nicely sleeved cable.

Well you set the sensitivity yourself when you converted it right? Not really, the sensitivity is fixed by the encoder CPR. Then you can play with the DIP switches to set the quadrature decoding mode: 1X, 2X or 4X (respectively 100, 200 or 400 CPR). In my case, I just added a raw to USB HID convers...
