HP 8660B keyboard module review (HP pulse transformer switches)

Today we look at what's probably the most complex switch design I've ever seen, in a very interesting early 70s control pad. Thanks for HaaTa for explaining to me how these little devils work! :D

Re: Blue Alps

That is a very nice description xD .

I agree completely! Even compared to switches that are as close as possible to objectively better, SKCM blue just have an indescribable spark of magic that nothing else has :D .

This is something you need to ask Engicoder, if anyone knows it's him.

Might still have it, you never know with vintage boards - or I could be wrong and it's not even a DFK555! When you get it, please do let us know though, for future reference :) .

Typing Demo XL - Bloomberg miniature domes (Bloomberg Freeboard)

In today's TDXL we have one of the first boards I got through the uni; the super tactile miniture dome-based Bloomberg Freeboard. This one also happens to have some interesting features, such as a pair of speakers and a fingerprint reader. Hope you enjoy the video! :)

I'd like to ping this issue again - I realise you have very limited time, but this is absolutely doing my head in. Keeping track of who sent me what, why, and what the circumstances were is all but impossible atm.

As requested, a TDXL of my AT&T buckling spring board - a tank of a terminal board rather reminiscent of an M122.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Almost sure that's not a FK-555, almost everything about it is slightly different. The lock lights and their order, the colour of the F-key strip and lock light sticker, the keycaps, the layout (Monterey instead of Focus), the cable, the feet, the AT/XT switch, its position and its label, the serial...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Never noticed it on any of mine Oo .

Congrats on the find! The DT wiki says the 6010 series is considerably less rare than the KB-101A, but I'd beg to disagree with that - I've only ever seen a handful of these. Noice! :)

EDIT: also, did you say 6023?

Re: Focus 5001 USB

Yup, pine white Alps, nice! Looks very clean, too! I used my 5001s over USB just via a Soarer's, as I recall. OK, I'll have to setup a Soarer's converter for the 180° 5-pin DIN connector then. I took it to the office today where my desktop has a PS/2 keyboard port and the board works great. I reall...

Re: Old IBM Model m with a unique controller help

The very first Ms had a repurposed, depopulated terminal controller from 1984 and the famous Mandolin crystal; this one lacks both.Still, a 1986 M is always a great find, so congrats! :D

What about Ms with blue sublegends? I would love one of those. Don't see many early Ms. What are the earliest PC Models M? The earliest PC-compatible Model M is the 1388032. Mine has the blue sublegends, but this seems to be very rare. Even other 1388032's I've seen don't have these legends. I'm pr...

Very nice! ISO square-label M's are very rare; it took me quite a while to get hold of one (and mine isn't even this XT version). Looks great! :)
