Typing Demo XL - Key Tronic vintage foam and foil (Chyron 4044)

As requested by a viewer, a TDXL of the Chyron Aircraft Carrier. I love this beast :D . I also realised I actually type relatively quickly on it, for some reason. Hope you enjoy the video! :)

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYSWITCH thread

You might want to give them a try if you like tactile switches. Mistumi standard aren't bad from what I've tried, and that board looks like it's not that dirty (just banana'd).

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYSWITCH thread

Looks like Key Tronic magnetic reed or a clone (caps look KT though), or possibly their block-mount foam and foil switches.

Yes, the weight is similarly light, but it's also similarly smooth (if both in good condition). The similarities aren't shocking tbh considering the switch' design.

Re: Alps Appreciation

Did anyone try to compare SKCL Alps switches to Linear modded Alps switches? I want to know what the differences are if it's worth paying premium for Green SKCL switches. Yes, I've compared them side-by-side. I'd say just linearise some blacks tbh. They feel maybe not exactly the same, but just as ...

Re: Could the IBM PCJr's keyboard have been a bit better?

Could the IBM PCJr's keyboard have been a bit better? Well, it couldn't have been any WORSE, at least xD . I went on in my video about its shortcomings to some length, although nowhere near as lengthy as this when it regards the layout. Then again, not being a touch typist, I'm probably a bit more ...

Hi, do someone know this keyboard? The FCC ID is FY44O4DK-CTW060 by Deyi Technology and the seller said that there is a "Tec 8" written on the switches. Is it some kind of alps clone? How much is it worth?
KPT clone, presumably TEC switches.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYSWITCH thread

Hi guys, this is my first post here and I hope I'll have a good time and learn a lot on this forum. To the cause. I'm dreaming of modifying an old Nixdorf Softkeys to work on a modern computer. I know people tried it and didn't manage to get it working, but since some other guys managed to successf...

Typing Demo XL - Amber Omron B3G-S (Chicony KB-5161C)

A typing demo of my Chicony with amber Omnoms! Another dozen or so switches had died again since I last used the board, but I don't think I'll ever get tired of the typing sound of these frenzied staplers xD . Hope you enjoy the video! :)

Scorpius boards

Hey guys, does anyone know what happened to that batch of NOS Scorpius boards someone found a while back? IIRC there was some demand for a group buy but I don't think anything materialised. Anyone know if they're still available somewhere?

Re: Cherry KFN3 keyboard review (Cherry solid-state capacitive, shamrock-type)

I've always been intrested in quirky enter keys. The board peaks my interest as I didn't even know Cherry made foam and foil switches. And that spacebar its HUUUUUGE! Haha yeah, 9.75 u long! Admittedly, that was pretty standard in those days xD . The longest I've ever seen was a full 10 u long, whi...

Re: Typing Demo XL - Alps SKCC Green (IBM Pingmaster)

Are there any other key caps that would fit on these? I want to get this keyboard and put new keys on it. I’ve heard that Cherry MX keys will not fit. You need another keyboard with SKCC caps IIRC. I'm not sure if other vintage cross-mount switches happen to have compatible caps as well. Alps did m...

Despite all the complaints about broken Matias boards, my two Matiases have never missed a beat xD . Although of course they haven't seen particularly intensive use, only roughly a week each.

That said, I'm touching on the subject in another video I have planned.

Plus ISO enter, BAE, stepped Caps Lock, and single-unit backspace r2 slash key. Think of how many Alps boards you can deck out with a set like that!
