This is my v80 with canon hipros. I'm gonna be rebuilding this baby next week with SKCL greens. Can't wait!
Wow, that is the first tasteful usage I've seen of the Canon spherical caps. It actually matches very well with the Tai Hao Dolch colorway.

That's very impressive! Good work.

They can be affordable, if you find them on taobao. Less so on other more well-searched platforms.

To the OP, I just remembered that I actually have a loose P70 keyboard unit if you're interested. I could send you a PM if you'd like.

I felt like i have to restore my first vintage keyboard i own, chicony kb-5161a with blue alps switches. So i started it few days ago. Gosh, there's so much dialogue here that I really couldn't go through all of it, but... If there's any recommendation I'd give that isn't Topre (I personally use silenced 30g Topre if I ever have aches), it would be Alps Plate Spring, aka Alps SKCP. The deskthority wiki cites it as being quite a com...

Re: Dell AT101 Double-Shot PBT (vs. Dye-Sub)

Friend of mine just paid $300 last year for an old dell with these keycaps. He later sold me the board without caps for $60. Edit: the board was also from the States. Are you sure it was the doubleshot version? Old logo isn't the only factor here. These are particularly rare, more so than the PBT d...

Here are mine. Grainy/texturing isn't really the best way to figure it out, but yes the non-shined caps are textured but then so are ABS caps that haven't been worn.

Re: Blue ALPS stock lube question

If you don't plan on desoldering, then I would use 99% isopropyl alcohol and scrub it down real well, maybe with a toothbrush or similar tool. If you do desolder, a degreaser like Simple Green should work well, or a strong liquid detergent. An ultrasonic cleaner would clean them up well if you're go...

Hmm, maybe it was a spill. You should return it if possible, especially if this was not described in the listing on eBay.

That's awful. Pretty unacceptable, in my eyes.

Does it look like something was spilled into the keyboard at all? Are the keys also oily? Anything obvious?

Good luck. I'd use 99% isopropyl alcohol if you have any. It should get rid of it, maybe a degreaser like Simple Green could help as well if you don't have 99%.

No, that is not normal at all. Where or who did you buy this from? This almost looks like it was done by someone who was unfamiliar with Alps (a newbie to the hobby, or someone who has no experience with the switch) in an attempt to lubricate the switches. Alps Electric did not use a wet lubricant f...

A few days ago I went digging in my storage. Apparently when you get old enough you can hide your own Easter eggs, because I found a few things I didn't even remember having. Got one too! Thought the one shown above had a DIN 5 connector before I realized my sense of scale was off.

I've AT101 caps on mine. In terms of feel and sound, it's a great combination.
