The layout isn't much different from standard. The biggest change is the inclusion of backspace keys on the spacebar row. You'd adjust pretty quickly.

Fancy Macro in Soarer's Controller
Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out how to write a macro config for Soarer's controller. I need a key to alternate between one function and another. First keypress: send LGUI & PAD_PLUS Second keypress: send LGUI & ESC Then cycle back on subsequent keypresses. I can't figure out the logic to do this. ...

Build Log for Purple Mountain Majesty
This is my ninth build. Its title is 'Purple Mountain Majesty.' I CNC cut the keyplate from an aluminum print of my photography and built a custom 3D printer to make the frame. This design inherits my best enhancements from previous builds, such as backspace on the thumb-row, Q/P mirroring, one-key ...

I have not heard of sound-deadening foam before. Was it easy to work with? Have you noticed any difference in sound between the two keyboards. The foam was fairly easy to work with. It went on like spray paint. It masked very well. Clean up was about the same as spray paint. I think it's a little q...

The Blue Wave
Here is my third build. I call it 'The Blue Wave.' I began planning 'The Blue Wave' in early 2016 after I completed 'The Black Rainbow' in late 2015. (imgur.com/a/sf2Ac) I finished 'The Blue Wave' in July 2018. I worked on it occasionally over two years, but got stuck trying to figure out how to mor...

I think Plexiglas is just a name brand for acrylic glass. It's good to get it laser-cut, but I found it difficult to work with by hand. I used plexiglass to close the bottom of a case on one of my builds so I could show off the internals . It chipped on the cutting edge. It gets fingerprints. It scr...

...I'm kinda surprised to see a mouse alongside of it though. Isn't it a pain to reach so far out for it? Have you ever tried a tiling window manager? Not at all. It's not too much bigger than a full-sized keyboard, so I'm used to that. But I've also designed the keyboard (and mouse) layout to redu...

Hmm. Maybe there's a version mismatch in the tools or hex file. Try checking for the latest version of everything. The converter package should be ver. 1.12. Here is the output I get when I write the config file to the Teensy: scwr v1.10 scwr: looking for Soarer's Converter: found scwr: reading file...

What firmware are you using? I had trouble with the ones I had to compile myself, and had good results with Soarer's. http://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/soarer-s-keyboard-controller-firmware-t6767.html The first step is to flash your controller with the supplied .hex file. Then you edit a configurat...

I closed the case with some maple and a 1.5mm sheet of laser-cut stainless. It's ridiculously heavy. I ruined a countersink bit drilling in the stainless, so the screws aren't totally flush. Stainless steel is really tough stuff. I found some 1.5mm thick clear rubber feet on amazon.com. The next one...

I found a workaround, but it's clunky. It assumes and requires that NUM_LOCK be on (which it always is for me). macro AUX3 SHIFT PRESS NUM_LOCK MAKE RSHIFT MAKE LALT PRESS PAD_0 PRESS PAD_1 PRESS PAD_6 PRESS PAD_8 BREAK LALT BREAK RSHIFT PRESS NUM_LOCK endmacro This turns off NUM_LOCK, presses and h...

You define a key to issue some nonsense code, say F20... then define F20 to be the macro. I'm actually using F13-24, so I chose an AUX code for that macro, which worked. Thank you. macro AUX1 MAKE LCTRL MAKE RALT MAKE DELETE BREAK LCTRL BREAK RALT BREAK DELETE endmacro Now, I'm trying something a l...

Yup. Squarer matrices are more efficient on pin use. (Add the rows and columns.) But what you save in pins, you pay for in complexity when figuring out exactly where the switches are. As a fellow C- student, I recommend Soarer's Controller as well. That thing's magic. Here's the config for my custo...

Very Large Matrix Build.
I'm building a very large keyboard. It has 25 columns and 6 rows. I wired up a Teensy++ 2.0 because of its many pins. I'm having a bit of trouble finding some code which I can adapt. I attempted to follow matt3o's tutorial on modifying Hasu's code, but I think I have too many columns. I've never bee...
