I had same problem with Rapid-I LEDs (http://deskthority.net/review-f45/cooler-master-rapid-si-pre-release-review-t10156.html). I don't have a quickfire so i don't know but it sounds like ether a batch of dodgy LEDs or the voltage is too high across the led.

CM Brian may know more but i would check the voltage accross the led if you have a multimeter
