Re: olivetti typewriter keyboard
hey, i'm writing this on the converted keyboard :) i'm missing a few keys, some aren't quite where they are supposed to be, but that's 100% due to bad wiring/mapping. it really works! time for cleanup and polishing. i'll attach all the relevant files in case someone ever needs them. they are still v...

Re: olivetti typewriter keyboard
alrighty, here's the ordered matrix :) i think i'll omit the red columns (upper row) and try to integrate col 5 into col 34 (if that's not already the case anyway), then i'll have exactly the 18 pins that the pro micro has without desoldering the leds. one more (probably stupid) question though: do ...

Re: olivetti typewriter keyboard
oof. all done
matrix is attached below, in case somebody wants to do this as well. the keyboard is definitely worth the effort and these typewriters seem to be quite easy to source.

Re: olivetti typewriter keyboard
hey, sorry for the late response, i wasn't expecting this level of collaboration ':) the "documentation" was also not meant for someone else to decipher, apologies :O anyways, here's the pcb again, not much going on on the back, aside from a bunch of diodes. u and z keys are pin 31, not 30.. otherwi...

Re: olivetti typewriter keyboard
hey, thanks for helping me out! you're right, the u's lower leg should be pin 31 instead of 30! there are probably some more errors, i thought i'd iron them out as i go. i simply numbered the pins from left to right, first row 1,2,..10, second row 11,12,..20 and so on until 40 on the lower right. > ...

Re: olivetti typewriter keyboard
thanks for your reply. soo i sat down and traced all the pins with a multimeter. i'm not sure if it's 100% correct, but i've attached my findings below (it's from an olivetti te 530 typewriter keyboard in case anyone ever searches for this..). i find it extremely confusing to say the least! some pin...

olivetti typewriter keyboard
i recently saved a great keyboard from certain doom. it's from an old olivetti typewriter (te 530) and it's pretty much a close relative to this one that "the voice" reviewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUSCkm9dm1k it has (presumably) the same 40-pin connector, and i'd really like to conve...

nope, don't think so, the sliders don't look the same. unless there are different versions, but the caps wouldn't fit either.. hmm..

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread
hey, can someone tell me what these switches are? https://imgur.com/a/bEtOzXu the keyboard comes from a olivetti typewriter with german layout. i found pretty much nothing about this model. the switches feel/sound really nice and have a soft click on them. it's been a little while since i've convert...

hey everyone, i found a set of amazing keycaps. just look at them! the destroyed typewriter they were attached to was filthy and i have no idea what model or even switch type that was. but i got all the caps! they kinda looked like they were cherry mx compatible, but it turns out they are quite a bi...

According to WIKI, Chicony uses all sorts of switches on their ...

Fujitsu used weird protocols, the only FLS board I know that is easily convertible is the Tandy 3000 keyboard which is XT. haata has successfully converted it, there is even a picture of his wiring, but no text unfortunately: https://farm1.staticflickr.com/603/23441700100_95ced3bb2f_h.jpg quite fun...

Yup, second-gen Fujitsu leaf spring. Really nice board, great find :) . Do the switches feel good? you know, it's really hard to tell, the spherical caps totally throw me off. and i wasn't able to convert it yet, which makes it even harder to judge. what i can say is that the switches feel pretty m...

Oh, you'll get a pretty penny for the SAUs, that's for sure. huh, really? i was pretty disappointed by the MY switches. i mean sure, the fat keycaps are really nice, but the board itself.. i happen to have a highscreen-branded G81-3081 SAD lying around, would that be worth something as well? sad.JPG

update. no luck with the power led, but the rest of the leds and all but six of the keys are working now. i think i'll just desolder the numpad keys and use the switches to fill up the rest of the non-working keys. on a side note, i opened all the letter switches, lubed them and removed the clicker ...
