Re: My First Model M Project
A bit of surface rust on the springs shouldn't be a huge problem, but since you're doing a bolt mod... Also, the space bar one needs to be twisted back into shape or preferably replaced. Speaking of space bar, you have a yellowed ABS one; you could replace it with a PBT one that will match your othe...

Those broken image links from your first post? They look like they're pointing to Gmail attachments, might work for you because you have a valid Gmail session in the browser you're using. Two words: "floss mod". It'll dampen pinging and ringing while leaving the remainder of the sound and tactile feel as is.hellothere wrote: ↑06 Nov 2020, 21:50I would have been ok with the ping if the XT felt better, but it was starting to get a bit annoying.

Regular barrel frame + an appropriate saw?
Otherwise straightening the frame and through bolts are probably your best bet.

Broken rivets with less tension in the assembly could alter feel and make a buckling spring board feel less clicky and less sharply tactile.

None of the options this board ships with are close. I always like to refer to Haata's force curves for something like this. Alps SKCM Amber: https://chart-studio.plotly.com/~haata/293/alps-skcm-amber/ The tactile event maxes out around 73 grams of force, over the course of about 1 mm of travel wher...

To make white on black caps, I think lot_lizard's dye + laser technique looked very promising. See the photo from this 2016 post: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?p=341414#p341414 "Reverse" dye sub could also yield good results, judging by these samples matt3o showed us in 2018: https://desktho...

The only "contactless" design I can think of that could be made entirely compliant with the MX form factor would be magnetic reed based.

why invent this [TellerVision keyboard] at all? I think the name hints to why. My hypothesis is this would have been meant for use with some sort of (GUI, not text terminal) specialized software for bank tellers. They'd be using the numpad, mouse, nav and functions constantly while typing names and...

Can you divulge how heavy and bulky? Where is it in Canada? That would help getting a better answer. I haven't done any handwiring yet, but given the pins' offset on MX-type switches would it be reasonable to solder the row diodes directly between two switches rather than using wire? (However it would preclude your "naked wire" approach on the columns.)

I have the wired 2013 model, the nav key placement is disappointing. Fn + the arrows feel like the smarter option but there's no documented way to reprogram the layout on this thing. I tried Fn + all the unmarked keys in Switch Hitter and there aren't any scancodes coming out. So yeah, no Pause or S...
