Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

I can recommend doing a floss mod - reduces the pinging a ton. Get the correct type of floss and be a bit exacting getting the lengths consistent, and you’ll get a fantastic sounding keyboard. I looked at some of the links, I can only find a minty version of the floss, so my search isn't going very...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

So I decided to lube wire for the spacebar on my f62 with some 205g0, the result is pretty amazing to me. I know that the pingyness kind of comes with the board, but I was wondering if there was something I could do to reduce it a bit? are there any other areas that might benefit benefit from lube?...

You could DIY it and get the best of both worlds — buy the retro mouse you like best and a cheap optical mini mouse, and swap out the guts. I did exactly that for a retromod a while back: https://imgur.com/gallery/mQFKe https://i.imgur.com/V0PPXHe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2jvrffN.jpg https://i.imgur....

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Exactly two months with my F77 now, and I could not be happier. I just flashed QMK on it this morning and all is well -- I actually had no problems with the original firmware for the first 6-7 weeks, but about a week ago, the 'k' key started acting up, sometimes registering multiple keypresses and s...

After a few weeks of use, the space bar on my F77 has developed a ‘squeak’ on the upstroke if I hit it on the far left. I figure the squeaky sound can be fixed with some kind of lubricant- but what kind and where? Any ideas would be most appreciated. I used Silicone Grease for my F122 (I rpelaced t...

You can wire the matrix directly to the Teensy, the old controller is not needed at all. It’s really not too difficult, I did it when I had no experience soldering at all.

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

I have now used my F77 for a month and I love it! I was a little bit worried if I'd get used to it, as it's both taller and louder and the actuation force is higher than the Realforce 87u I was using as my previous daily driver. But after just a few days and a few layout tweaks to suit my habits, it...

Re: [IC] IBM Doubleshot Key Cap Set Group Buy?

I’m interested provided: 1. The keyset would cover a new F77 2. The colorway is sexy AF (like the aforementioned beamspring black&white, or Space Cadet) 3. The pricing is <$150 (honestly that’s just about my pain point) 4. If the keycaps are sculpted differently in the different rows, I would want t...

I also floss modded my F77 with SuperFloss, and my floss is cut so it fits entirely inside the springs. When inserted, the top of the floss is about 1 mm below the top of the spring. To get them out, normal tweezers and a bit of finesse worked for me (also, grabbing the spring down by the flipper an...

It is a pity to keep them closed in their postal boxes. I think you have enough room in that corner to set a Ikea BESTA up as I made with mines. What do you think of my Ikea low cost solution? Consider anyway that I slightly modded it adding some extra shelves, some of them were also further modded...

Great tip Ellipse, will try that once I’m done with the floss mod I’m doing right now. UPDATE: Tightened the screws, they weren't loose but I gave them maybe a 12th of a turn each. Not sure if I can tell a difference, but nice to know that things are as tight as they should be. Also, I did a floss m...

Unicomp is good folks. Would love to get my employer to order a couple hundred thousand boards from them. A couple hundred thousand? That narrows it down. Not a lot of companies with that kind of (white collar) workforce. My old employer had >400k employees but they’re one of the largest companies ...

@Ellipse: can I order additional cork pads? I like to rest my F77 on my lap - I think that the cork pads will wear out quickly. You rest that thing on your LAP?!? I think you will need spare set of feet for your torso when the gangrene sets in from having the blood supply cut off from your legs.

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!

Interesting choice, especially given that the XT is by far the cheapest model F and one of the least modern layout-wise. Build quality was never a problem for me with any vintage IBM keyboard, so to me, the improvement from a model M to an XT is entirely in the ‘nice to have’ category. Still though,...

And yes, they were available contemporaneously. Well, not really available, but they were contemporaneous. I imagine IBM wouldn't sell you a 4704 if you weren't a bank. Re: Alps TKL with SKCM Browns [Endgame Candidate]

Hi - not at all, if anything the switch housings are too loose in the stabilized positions - IIRC the right shift and enter positions were just barely touching the plate at a few points in the corners, and would fall out randomly until I soldered them down to the PCB.

Also, Wheelwriter keyboards with an "ISO" instead of a "BAE" key are pretty unusual.

I would definitely get this one for the unusual keycaps.
Cool. If someone else really wants it just say so and I’ll pass on it, but if not I’ll probably grab it for the caps.
