To minimize finger movements during "typing" inputs, I recommend DataHand and OrbiTouch. Not so much related to traditional keyboard "layout" already though. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b5/DataHand_overhead_view.jpg/1200px-DataHand_overhead_view.jpg https://www.allthingser...

At least the above. Easier to obtain normal ANSI Enter or ISO Enter.

At least these switches should be the famous for its over-engineering for reliability hall effect switches, in mint condition. They enjoyed good reviews when they are in good condition, but I'm no expert in how they can be cleaned. Known variants: https://deskthority.net/wiki/Micro_Switch_SD_Series#...

Congrats 🎉 to the winner

But I think a Mint-condition Symbolics keyboard can go higher - and given the switches, the caps and the company behind this keyboard design are all now historical legends - definitely will get an even higher price in the future.

What is "halfway decent"? If rubberdome are not mechanical, then all Topre boards are not either. And the chiclet switches ("scissors") are more mechanical than Topre in its moving mechanism. If you want "true mechanical", in a lot of people's mind in the community defined as "mechanical and without...

Re: Objective reasons for using a mechanical keyboard

When it comes to an objective reason for a personal preference, it can be futile, e.g. “this car is faster”, some doesn’t care; “this car is more comfortable”, but some cares about the price most, etc.
