... you’ve never seen the JP before? It’s… different. Essentially the HHKB finagled to be kinda sorta JIS, with big fat double deck Return and an itty bitty spacebar to match. Beware those extra mods, though: they do stuff! And it ain’t for non Japanese like us!

... and the very, very crisp feedback, but I hate where the ` and \ keys are located. The spacebar spring mod (which is nothing more than slightly bending its large metal spring), worked wonders on its feel.

tl;dr: spent way too much time restoring an itty keyboard when I really like full-sized boards.

... to linears by just removing the arm follower at the top of the switch. I have plenty of those. Though, they all have the Big Ass Enter™ and the itty bitty Backspace key.

I've seen my share of switches. From itty bitty Mitsumi Miniatures all the way up to burly IBM beam springs . But these are (just a touch) bigger yet. Behold: Clare's High Profile Series Reed Switches:

So long as you design a stab-free layout with your own typing preferences in mind, I'm sure it can work just excellently. The key is to put the centre of the caps, and therefore the switches, just where your fingers expect. It's worth it for itty-bitty space bars!

Absolutely. Itty bitty space bars flanked with Command and Option on either side are exactly what I want. In fact, that's what I'm aiming at with some of my Round 5 ...

Now I've got the caps to try some stab-free layouts, I think that's the direction I'm going. Itty bitty space bars open up a lot of crafty opportunities for row 0 real estate. And pinkie function keys beside the little Shifts…
