So this has been out there for ages, and it's the one 10-key variety that I have always wanted... So mildly intoxicated last night, I made a low ball offer, and he took it. I have several "nicer" boards that I paid MUCH less for, but will somehow justify the purchase in my mind with a birthday comin...

Agree with Hyper... Worst case, those that were sold on the 62 mini could always solder in the new controller once it was stable. My preference would be the proven board, but I ordered the F77, and have no benefit of the smaller controller (at least I haven't seen plans for a 77 mini, but could have...

You could maybe try the replacement "blanket" from Unicomp. I personally prefer it to the rubber mat, and have it in a couple SSKs (keeping the original for posterity). It is white and thinner, or gives that impression when handling. It is a "one size fits all" for the M, so you would just trim off ...

So I am having my friends at a machine shop make a door flap (plastic) replacement (stainless steel) for my 3279 beamspring. On Tuesday, I pick it up. I am going to ask about having a thicker gauge stainless steel baseplate cut and bent for the FSSK (say twice as thick). I would drill and countersin...

I will be returning from my work trip early next week, and will have access to my flippers. It won't take me long (<1 hour) to throw together a CAD model for one. After that, I would send off for printing to validate the part (which takes a little over a week). Assuming it works as expected, then or...

Excellent news flash about the boards being ready I'll send out the key cap mount for printing to test it out later this week. It's actually way simpler than the current keystem once you replicate the innards of the spring holder, and easy to change out mount configurations in the design should the ...

The work i$ did is a massive first step. To be honest, it was really the only "unknown". He deserves huge praise.. I don't know what Ellipse's markup was for his project, but I suspect the all metal FSSK could be done for under 350 per based on his F62/77 pricing. If people were really serious, and ...

You could try making a metal top plate that would take the F barrels. I suspect you could get enough interest to have it machined as part of a group buy (i know others here have mentioned it previously). It would look nice "uncased " with a supporting base. You will need foam cut to sandwich between...

@Phenix.. The following thread would have several pictures showing the base plate and barrel frame. The PCB would be sandwiched between the two with a buckling spring and flipper for each barrel in the frame. https://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/ibm-model-m-screw-nut-and-bolt-mod-t9169.html To be hon...

Pulled the 5251 apart further, and am really happy with the shape of the PCB, foam, and lack of debris. All the attached pictures are "as-is" (no cleaning) with the exception of the case bottom. I've learned previously that these ink stamped model numbers come off very easily with nothing more than ...

I picked up one of Wantsome92's 5251 boards off of eBay. This is in really nice shape with expected outer grime. I have several beamsprings, and this has been the cleanest on the inside to date for a black debris shield (it looks 5 years old vs 85 like most). I am currently taking apart and cleaning...

I have a 3279 that I am restoring, and like Kuato... don't care for the plastic lid. I took mine in today to the local machine shop (friends of mine that have done work in the past on implements) and they are going to put it together for me. Should have something in a couple of weeks as they work it...
