I had to get a quiet keyboard for work, and I was pleasantly surprised by this HP KU-1156. It's not terrible looking and has reasonably snappy and consistent domes, and it only cost me $5 at a meetup! :D

The horizontal lines on the display are probably being caused by bad capacitors on the CRT control board. This is turning out to be one awesome restoration! :)

It seems odd that a keyboard based on the membrane buckling springs design would be a prototype for the PCjr keyboard, seeing as the Model M was introduced two years after the PCjr. The first Model M (and all of the others that were actually built by IBM) had a large controller board in the back, so...

For your Enter key, try taking a slightly dampened cotton swab and clean out the inside of its barrel. That's helped me with stuck keys in the past. Also you may need a new spring. The key repeat inconsistency may be a problem with the traces on the membrane. At any rate, congratulations on the func...

The real fun (not really...) is when you break plastic teeth that hold the controller board to the case, and it is no longer able to hold a connection with the membrane ... Yep, I don't even remove the PCB when replacing the capacitors for that very reason. Reassembly is a pain too. You'll have to ...

I've used Model M springs in M2s with no problems. I haven't tried replacing the hammers, but I think they are interchangeable. Muirium's right, they are a pain to open and close. Be prepared to break a few of the plastic teeth in the process; that's just part of the fun.
