Re: Tips for Beginner Vintage Board Hunter
Even though your chances of finding something in person are going to be harder, at least you can use your fingers to judge if a keyboard at least feels good to type on. Keep an eye out for IBM keyboards. The IBM Models M are great and fairly common, although you may strike gold and find a Model F ...

Here is a sample of some of the new XT-quality blue printed keys on my f62 compared with corresponding keys on my HHKB.

Pro Micro pinout for Bigfoot converter
Hi guys, I am trying to make an external converter for my Bigfoot so that I can use the original cable. Where on Earth is PF0 and PF1 on the Pro Micro? Attached are edited pictures omitting what I think I don't need, leaving the corresponding pins on the Pro Micro. I used images of Teensy converters ...

The case was actually uncomfortable at first, it really felt in the way. Then it grew on me, it feels very comfortable now.

I'm a total freak, the layout really doesn't bother me in the slightest. The keys that I need are there, although I can totally see why this would drive people potty.Muirium wrote: 13 May 2021, 10:16 PERFECT colourway to frame history's most INSIDIOUSLY EVIL keyboard layout. Nicely done!

Re: Looking to try a Model F (or a switch)
I really don't mind using the XT layout at all - the strange stepped modifier keys are not really a hindrance to me and the keys I need are still there and accessible. I can pretty much use any layout just fine. Ironically the most painful layout for me is a 60% layout, where I need to use function ...

I know this thread is about a template, but here's something that works really well for me. To mark the foam, I like to put it between the front of the barrel frame and the back of the backplate, holding them firmly together with binder clips. The foam should be sandwiched nicely and won't give ...

Although I really don't know what the seller is referring to as "pine" Acer switches? AFAIK, the only difference on this new batch from the other cheaper one is the keycaps aren't Spanish. I think the seller will accept $30 or less, btw.
Chyros said Acer switches even have "pine" versions with ...

Re: [Vendor] IBM Model F 122-key terminal keyboards - $500 shipped US/CA/DE/FR/UK
These boards are the gold standard of buckling spring. Everyone who has an F122 adores it, simple as that. They’re serious game ender material for anyone who likes their keyboards BIG.
And you’re dealing with XMIT here, a DT legend in his own right. Gold star, plus plus! :D

Wazrach not sure if you read my reply but the manual describes how to fix the binding/scratchiness - it is not impossible to fix.
The new Model F keys are based on the original specs and even use the exact same PBT material that IBM used many decades ago. I have not seen any instances of ...

Re: Foam Dampening of old keyboards?
It is intersting that this should come up now. I think it has been believed that the purpose of the foam in the IBM Model F is to keep the key barrels securely in place because it was not possible to make the two metal plates and their locking tabs accuratly enough. But I have been directed form ...

Is EVA (Ethylene-vinyl acetate) suitable. I read earlier in the thread that art foam is fine but searching for that here in the UK suggests it may be a trademark and sold only in the USA. Over here I see craft foam much of which is described as EVA. If suitable the only other thing is to find it ...

How can you mess up all the springs in your BRAND NEW F77?

[WTB - UK/EU] Model F springs
Hi guys, looking for at least enough springs for the letter keys. My brand new Model F77 springs are in poor condition because I messed something up. On top of tightening the case screws, I also improved the key feel and sound by adding 2mm strips of shelf liner to the parts where the top inner assembly makes contact with the top case. So the sides of the assembly and the bit that separates the nav cluster of the F77 from the alphanumeric block ...
