I just turned 44 last month.
I'm definitely feeling a bit old, especially since i just got the 2nd pfizer shot yesterday and now my body is totally wrecked.

Ahh, well there seems to definitely be some lineage here. I agree it looks nice. I dont think it's worth $70 and I suspect the build quality is like wet cardboard, but it looks really tempting.

Hello, I found these while browsing ebay... it's a TK-M501C under the brandname Identity

Re: Bucking Springs, worth it?
I wouldn't worry too much about the Unicomp issues, it's just a bit of teething problems with their new board, but they have great support and probably already fixed the issues. You can email them if you want and ask if it is really concerning to you. I'd look into getting the Mini M or New Model M ...

I assume you mean compared to an original Model F when it was new. They certainly aren't cheaper than the price I paid for a second hand Model F XT.
I'm sure he was referring to when they were new. However, go find an F77 or kishsaver nowadays and see how much you'd spend to get one, if you can ...

of course you'd need buckling spring keycaps that were doubleshot to let the light through, and there is no such thing.

I will echo what others have said - ibm keyboards from this era clean up remarkably well. About the only thing you have to worry about is paint chips and cracks.

Re: Bucking Springs, worth it?
when I started this hobby, i wanted a keyboard that: felt good, had a volume knob, and a backlight.

Re: Bucking Springs, worth it?
Is it worth it? Yes, very yes.
If you value the sound, feel, and build quality of your keyboards over its lighting, then it is worth it. For example, there is no MX switch that can mimmick the feel of membrane or capacitive buckling spring switches and probably never could be due to limitations of ...

I dont think so, because it uses those refill cartridges.. D1 I think?

It does have an interesting "skin", kinda velvetty fishy thing. It feels like I imagine a plastic dolphin would feel like.

Got a monitor swing arm today to free up some space for my F122
Is that a pen or a bovine impregnation device?
Maybe? I actually dont know much about the pen. I got it over 30 years ago. I do know it still works even though I've never replaced/refilled it.
I call it my "fish pen"

yeah - i've got the Novation SL49mkIII for when I wanna twiddle dials and such, but the A-88 is extremely barebones.
The key feel is quite heavy. Almost every real piano I try is lighter. However, I think the heavyness helps with my speed.

But I prioritised buying a nice full weighted Roland keyboard
I love my A-88. I need weighted keys, they're a lot of fun. Sometimes i will use both keyboards at once. Like have a key bass on one and a vox continental on the other and jam to some doorsy sounding shit. Most of the time I just load ...

That's called Ping. Many Alps and Model M's and F's have this aswell. There are ways to considerably mitigate it if you want. (floss mod, or lubing springs)

You may just like Pinks. I'm using Pinks right now with a few jades mixed in for things like spacebar/esc/enter on my id80 and they are great.

You don't buy a space cadet because it's the most key to ever board. it's a collection piece, and people who buy it for $10k are making an investment.
