If you show me a through hole micro USB connector I will add it in an instant! I may actually add a couple of LEDs (2-4) to indicate the current layer as I'd like to be able to lock layers as well as temporarily enable them while pressing the respective FN key. For that I plan to have as small as po...

So... I ordered, and, just like I said, now regret it a lot. I already changed a lot of things since I ordered  However, the coming PCBs will show whether the MCU and USB circuitry is working and I can also take some measurements that I'd like to confirm for the case. I also had an idea to fur...

There is a basic tutorial how to design a keyboard PCB with KiCad on the wiki: http://deskthority.net/wiki/KiCAD_keyboard_PCB_design_guide Then again.. I spent way too much time in KiCad lately so this didn't take much time :D Is this what you want (-> spoiler)? And should the Teensy be on the front...

I think it's less about not having the keyboard yet and more about all the delays. I pre-ordered (well, the IC thread) a HyperMicro PCB and plate well over 2 years ago and at some point just cancelled everything. If he really got a tracking number why not post it? He's online every day but apparentl...

If you like/need/use arrow keys like that I can imagine that it is A LOT better to have them one row higher so there's less wrist and finger movement when moving to the arrow cluster. Personally I love my HHKB and became a full time vim user with vim shortcuts wherever possible though so dedicated a...

I went with a mini USB for now. Unlike micro USB there are through hole ones that will withstand a lot more abuse. I'm also really tempted to order a batch but I'm sure I'll find some errors tomorrow. So far I only added two holes for the mount plates. Should I add more holes? At that size a case is...

I started over and manually routed most traces this time. Looks a bit more dense and I have a lot more space next and above the controller now. Except for the usb connector everything is should be in place now. I'm still not sure if I should use mini or micro usb though :? http://i.imgur.com/b7wd19Z...

Mu: Yeah I already thought of that as well. I don't think there is some easy logic to handle that so it'll probably either be: "don't be stupid and connect only one" or a switch that physically cuts the connection of one of them. Also: tiny update. I went back to through hole diodes since there is m...

Not the most interesting update, but at least some progress. After installing the latest KiCad and getting mad because of it's new and even less clear library management I ended up making my own Atmega32u4 component. I used a stock TQFP 44 footprint though. The switch matrix is connected, everything...

Hey DT, I'm about to start my third semester of studying, made lots of new friends, a weird new hobby, have a few things I'm very involved with that keep me busy and apart from using my HHKB exclusively I was almost completely keyboard abstinent for a year :| But.. I just connected my THKB prototype...

Oooooooh that looks awesome. Clamshell, proper navigation key positions, blue enter, media keys on fn, ThinkLight instead of expensive backlit keyboards. And all that with a touch of modern design. Now if they would reintroduce a model with a 4:3 screen a lot of people would sheld tears of joy :D ED...

1. Is the single Ctrl key on the HHKB not a problem? Do you miss those "palm-actuated" Ctrl keys? Do you miss a right Ctrl key? 2. What exactly is Meta for if Alt is also present? I use Alt and Meta interchangeably, but also Compose (which is missing on HHKB). Would I gain anything if I were to hav...

From another thread: [...] Why don't you grab a $154 Realforce and find out for us, Mu :) [...] I am interested to know how this keyboard feels, too. The NG0100 was introduced in 2004 and it looks like these ones on eBay are early models as they have the old logo plate. I'd say it's probably close t...

Does anybody know a plate manufacturer, here in Europe? :? I've asked this already and got one answer, but I would prefer a shop that I can pay in EUR. Extra points for those who find one that is able to bend the sides of the plate! :o I ordered at Laserteile4you before, but I don't think th...
